To replace the pots and wires (not sure on the switch just yet as it was a pain in the arse to fix last time) in the control bit in my Epi LP. Hopefuly this will improve the tone on my neck pickup a bit and maybe even make the bridge one sound even better?! Can someone tell me exactly what I will need to get as I have no idea really. I guess four 500k pots (CTS ones from Bareknuckle?) but what about caps and wires? Will any wires do so long as they are made for guitar or whatever. I was just gonna get a "Gibson Rewire Kit" from Axes'r'us but its probably cheaper to buy the same parts separately. Someone needs to tell me EXACTLY what to get
Cheers

You can get them all through the BK shop. 500k and 0.047 are the Gibson standard, but if you look around, you will find that a few people like 250k and 0.022 for the tones and 1 meg for the volumes. This will give you a more open and brighter sound.

How much of a difference do you think itd make if I had a 500k volume and tone pot on the neck and a .022 cap? Doesnt 250k make humbuckers sound muddier?

I just did this exact operation on my Epi LP Custom and I ordered all the parts direct from BKP.
As always Tim was a great help and pleasure to deal with.
Unfortunately - I totally b*ll*cked it up and am now minus a working LP. :?
You are most probably better at soldering than I - so will have more success.
Good luck!

I am talking for the tone pots, but in general it doesn't make them sound muddy (all my HSS sets have 250k or 300k pots for the volumes and they sound fine). The 1 meg volume pot is supposed to open up the tone a bit more. A 0.022 cap will give less treble cut.

Hm I might not even hook up a tone to the neck pickup as I like it to be as bright as possible in the neck as it does tend to be kinda muffled/muddy :? So you reckon, 2x500k pots for volume and 2x250k for tones? At the minute my bridge pickup has a 500k tone pot and sounds perfect..
As for wires, where should I get them from and how much should I need, what brand etc.

I actually always use the BK braided wire if I am hooking up new stuff. I like it more than any other cable I can get. There is usually enough on the pickups for me to wire everything. If you don't have this, a decent screened cable is what you need.

Oh. Hmm I was just gonna get some of this.. http://wdmusicproducts.co.uk/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=wduk&Product_Code=WIREBK+F&Category_Code=MSC
Good or bad?

This is the Fender style wire. It is OK and I use it on Strats and switches, but on Gibsons I like to keep screened cable on the jack and grounds. You can get away without it though. As I said, I usually use the BK wire!

Hmm ok I have no idea where to get some screened cable :? I dont have any of the pickup wire left actually, I cut it all down I think..
Need help on where to get some screened wire!
