OK, to get things started: What is Red Dead Redemption?

(I know I could Google, but I'm feeling lazy)

Seems to be the darling of the games websites at the moment. I've never been much of a fan of GTAs sandbox style though, I always end up losing interest in the missions and just dick about.

i have not gamed- or been a gamer in years.   but i recently got a new laptop, and it plays mass effect 2 in glorious detail... and i am happy.   i have been playing bioshock2 (very good), assassins creeed 1&2 (nice but not engaging) and mass effect 2 is the first game to really engage me since i was a teenager

I only play online with one friend. We use it more as a way to catch up because he lives far away. So when his wife and kids have an early one, he normally gets in touch.
Otherwise I'm not much of a gamer, apart from the occasional game that comes along and grabs me.
Oblivion and Modern Warfare 2 have been the only games I've got in to in the last few years - I prefer to play music instead.

Red Dead seems good on first impressions, except online is $%&#ed with early teething problems

Wish it was out on PC, I don't have a 360 or PS3 :(

Alan Wake seems to have a PC release though so I'll be picking that up as it looks awesome :)

Oh, and Ted n Leo, doing GTA missions is way more fun than just messing around going on killing sprees. Me and my housemate have got a bit addicted to GTA recently - completed San Andreas twice in the past month as well as Libery City Stories   Vice City is next on the agenda (yes we're  sad and only have a PS2)!

For me Vice City was the best out of all the GTA stuff.
That was a game I spent a lot of time

I thought both Bioshock 2 and Masseffect 2 were phenomenal. Single player so far in RDR is great fun!

I don't see how a $60 game could possibly affect your decision to spend hundreds if not thousands on a guitar.

That being said, I'll wait to.........borrow it.....from the internet  :P

I did try! I just always end up finding one I can't do, then lose interest. It's a shame, because they are good games, but I just have a short attention span!  :D

I'm 35% into the game according to the stats page and it's fun fun fun! Hope it doesn't lose steam in the story dept. Oh, and I was quite surprised by the amount of times the word ####!! has been used and the language in general - I got told I "stink worse than a horses pussy"

Last night I was ambling down the street in Armadillo on my way out of town when a ruckus broke out outside the saloon. Some varmint was roughing up one of the girls and ominously had his knife out. As I drew alongside, without stopping the horse, I casually turned in the saddle and shot him once in the head before continuing with my slow amble out of town.

Love this game. :)

that made me chuckle, cause it sounds like something one of my friends would have bragged about in an RPG session.

Totally! The sound throughout is fantastic! Bit sad that I've done the main story and it seems all that's left is an Xrated version of the Waltons.

I take back any preconceptions I had about this game. Just completed it and it was AWESOME!
