Title: Caps for a pair of Mississippi Queens
Post by: AJM on May 21, 2010, 04:52:53 PM
I have a Gibson SG Special and am replacing its humbuckers with a pair of Mississippi Queens. The guitar, having been tweaked with constantly for 11 years (and with shitety electronics to start with) is badly in need of a complete wiring over haul as well, so I'm looking at dropping some high quality CTS 500k pots and some good Caps in. Lately I've been loving the sound of P90s but having played pretty much only with humbuckers for the 10 years I'm not sure of what cap values would be best, as well as any material suggestions for complimenting the tone of the MQs. Also any cap brands that are better than others? I'm prepared to put some money into the guitar's wiring, but I'm not interested in paying $42 for pair of Bumblebees just because they're painted vintage colors.

My play style is very blues based but I also play grunge, hard-rock, and some pop.

try vitamin Q oil and paper or the NOS russian ones that Tim has
0.022uF will be lovely - maybe a 0.015uF on the neck
