Hi all, this is just a quick email to say I've just launched a new website called The Guitar Jar. It's very early days at the moment, but the main idea behind it is that I wanted to be able to comment and review guitars and guitar related equipment that I've used over the past few years.
Please check the site out at: http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/
I intend to add an article every week or so as and when I can find the time. Also, if you would like to contribute to the site by submitting a review of any guitars or guitar related equipment you have used, there is a link on the home page to a User Review Form. It would be fantastic if anyone would like to contribute to help to grow this blog.
In addition, I have a "Features" section (that has yet to be populated) with this intention to place interesting articles that are related to playing the guitar i.e. Recording techniques, style analysis, techniques, stories of purchasing instruments etc etc - this really is open ended so if you feel you would like to contribute to the "features" section, please send me an email with your feature.
Anyway, like I said it's very early days, but I'm hoping it will grow accordingly and become a little community for guitarists.
Check it out and join in - I only have one review at the moment - a Marshall 2266C, but my BKP APaches are soon to be reviewd....
-
Sounds good. I'll write a review of the Tele I've got and possible the JVM too.
-
That would be awesome! Cheers - the more the merrier.
Thanks

Nice one, it looks very professional. I've booked marked it. Expect loads of Koch jokes. (not really!) :D I don't normally do detailed reviews. I'll give it a go though.
-
Just wrote up a review of my Tele :D
-
Looks great.

Just to say Steve's review of his Telecaster is now online. Wicked!
Please send in your reviews by using our User Review form and I'll try my best to get the review online asap (in and around work/family commitments).
Also, if you have any interesting or funny stories of buying guitars, recording, gigging feel free to send those in via our enquires form as I'd like to add these "real life" stories to the Features section.
Thanks guys

I’m frustrated because I just don’t simply have enough time to practice or play as much guitar as I’d like (mainly due to work & family commitments), and when I do finally get time, my Mrs wants to sit and chat about her day, whilst all the time all I’m thinking is “Please, please, please be quiet, and let me play my guitar!”.
ROFL !!! Kinda reminds me of a well-known situation :?
-
Great idea, I'll check it out and make a contribution at some point. Good luck with the site. 8)

Bump for this, I've also sent another review, this one is of the JVM410H.
-
Yeah, just to follow up Steve's latest review, I really enjoyed reading his post. It's for his Marshall JVM http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/user-reviews/marshall-jvm410h-review/ (http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/user-reviews/marshall-jvm410h-review/) and as a Marshall Vintage/Modern user, I found this an interesting read as I found myself constantly comparing the two amps in my head. Cheers Steve.
I'm in the process of writing some reviews for Apaches, Irish Tours and Mules but I have no experience (other than Mules) of the huge range of BKP humbuckers available so if any of you fancy submitting a review I'd be really interested in reading those (especially any Warpig users!).
You can submit your review by using our online form: http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/contact/add-user-review/ (http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/contact/add-user-review/)
Thanks again

I'd review my own amps, but I may be a wee bit biased 8)
-
Just stuck on a review for my Devi Ever Punch Love.
Might do the Egnater Renegade when I get enough time to do it justice!!!
Mark.

You could always approach a customer to write a review - could be interesting albeit a bit scary not knowing what they will write! Cool though.
Thanks Mr Bump - great review. I love it that I've just been exposed to a pedal manufacturer I've not heard of before. I've seen pedals like this at Vintage & Rare but my pockets are not that deep at the moment. Good review dude, thanks!
-
The Devi Ever review has had a comment which is cool, as has my latest post about grabbing the crowd attention at a gig. Also, Apache BKP's review coming soon
-
Just a quick note to BKP forum members to say thanks for visiting www.guitarjar.co.uk (http://www.guitarjar.co.uk) and a special thanks to those of you who have contributed your own user reviews.
The site has only been up for just under 2 weeks but I've been completely bowled over by the contribution of guitarists from across the UK. A couple of the blog posts are generating quite a few comments now so it's nice to see the guitar community growing, which is exactly the vision of the website.
Anyway, thanks again, and if you get a spare 10 mins, please submit your own reviews. I'm personally really interested in BKP reviews, especially any humbucker users out there. I'm due to post reviews for Mules, Apaches and Irish Tours that I use, but am keen to read first hand accounts of additional humbuckers (mainly as I'm tempted to load my SG with some!)
Thanks again

Just thought I'd share with you that I've recently uploaded some "Mystery Shopper" posts to www.guitarjar.co.uk (http://www.guitarjar.co.uk) - the two shops I've reviewed are:
- Vintage & Rare Guitars in London - http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/features/mystery-shopper-vintage-rare-guitars-london/ (http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/features/mystery-shopper-vintage-rare-guitars-london/)
- PMT in Bristol - http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/features/pmt-bristol/ (http://www.guitarjar.co.uk/features/pmt-bristol/)
Any of you guys been in these shops recently?
