Hello.
I'm looking to design a striking "Guitarist Available" advert to pin up in music shops or have placed in my local listings magazine. I have a Mac but have never used any of its creative applications, just Safari and Photo Booth.
What application should I use to create a beautiful and compelling advert that I can import photos into in order to get myself noticed and get gigging?
Thanks,
Mike.

Gimp is a free Photoshop-a-like app that will run on a Mac assuming you've installed X11 (it's on the Mac OS X system disks if it's not already installed). http://www.gimp.org/

The only desktop publisher I've used was Quark Express for PC. I don't know what the standard program is these days. They're easy enough to use though.

Apple's Pages program (part of the iWork suite ) is excellant
Download a trial version if you dont have it on your mac
There are lessons on it on the apple website and on lynda.com

Thanks all, most helpful. Pages looks great, wish it came as standard.
I also want to design my own website using iWeb. Has anyone tried this?
