Each of the 50s tribute guitars comes in a worn finish with P90 pickups, chambered body, 50s profile rounded neck and an orange-drop capacitor in the tone circuit.

Not an unreasonable price of £800 in the UK

I think P-90 LPs look "right" with a wraparound bridge rather than a separate bridge and tailpiece, for some reason.

That said, I do like the goldtop.

I agree that Gibson is making something cool for once, but what is up with the reflector knobbies?

Those would not appear until the second half of 1960. Hey, still a step in the right direction.

Now I look again, do the goldtop and faded sunburst have binding, or is it PRS-style "fake" binding?  Why haven't the other colours got it, whatever it is?

I don't like the unbound necks (on the gold and sunburst) either.

Oh, let's call the whole thing off.  :P

i thought that too philly, but looking at the goldtop, i think the maple cap is gold, and it looks like binding against the natural finish mahogany back.  it looks beautiful!  i want one!

It's faux binding PRS style

It's odd, the faux-bound body, unbound neck look works on a PRS, but seems wrong on a Gibson.

another re-issue of some sort?

This actually seems pretty good, a better idea than say......"Slash's Signature Pickups," considering he simply uses stock pups.  :P

TBF he has a new Slash signature set with SD which are supposed to be wound slightly differently to A2pros, so not really Gibson's doing.

they're nice and priced ok too - I'm sure some of the very early '52 Goldtops came without neck binding too, so they're cool for the guys who want something of that nature.
