Title: NGD
Post by: gordiji on June 06, 2010, 04:57:26 PM
As a result of visiting this forum i've become guitar obsessed again and having missed phily's bkp flying V by a whisker, and then juansolo's bkp edwards, i had humbucker gas like never before.(i'm a strat man at heart).
So a Tokai LP 135F from fretsguitar centre became mine, bought it blind, well deaf to be precise and as i've never
owned an LP (or played one) i can't make comparisons!
It's well made and i don't know what separates it from the 150, as its a 1 piece back, long tenon, cts pots and orange drops(even if the tokai spec says otherwise!)..£995inc ill fitting case which i've already modified.
Sounds good to me, but i think it'll be muled or abraxised in the summer, now back to them legato exercises

Looks great, I don't think you go far wrong with a Japanese Tokai (although I've just sold one today, by coincidence)!

Brave move blind-buying an LP though!    How are you getting on with the weight and that big chunky body?

Pretty pretty pretty :D

Another strat man here with a vague lusting for LPs sometimes. I've got a black Japanese Love Rock (no idea what the model number is anymore), it feels great, and it sounds great with Mules in. If I had another one, I'd be trying out the Abraxus pickups as well :D

phily, i'm glad you sold your tokai, i came very close to negotiating a deal with you, the main reason i didn't was it didn't set my heart on fire and after the p&p(france) and the cost of a hard case it was in the price range of something that did.it was the edwards that got me gassing esp as it was already bkd'd and cheap at 4ton.
this new one has a fat neck and is different in every way to play, than a strat but i see that as a good thing as it broadens ones technique or style generally.it's already waking up the dormant rock monsters that have been lurking in the recesses of my mind the last 30 yrs.
it was probably hunters posts esp the empty rooms one that got me thinking humbucker! oh and it's a 10 lb er
good for the back muscles, heavy is good in my book!good for you marauder, juansolo told me you got the V
when i enquired about his eddy, said you were a happy bunny!

  I'm not so sure it's "good" for the back muscles.... but glad you like it, that's what counts!  :D
