Title: Road Trip
Post by: Johnny Mac on June 10, 2010, 07:09:49 AM
I'm away on a road trip around France and Spain today.
First stop Le Mans 24 hour with the England v USA game too! Then where ever the road takes us for a week but to end in southern Spain.
Cars belong to two mates of mine. A BMW M5 500BHP V10 & a Lambourghini but I don't know which model yet but will update this when I know.  :D
I'm taking my camera kit but minus the 600 f4 as I won't need it.
All on ex's too so I am one lucky bar-steward!

Edit the flash car is a Gallardo V10 540BHP!! Blimey  :D

I'll post some pics as it didn't happen if it didn't!

holy cr@p, a lamborghini? I'm not a gigantic car fan, but lamborghinis are like the coolest thing in the world.

perhaps more accurately i'm not a car fan with the kind of budget i have for a car.

I don't really pay much attention to these super cars myself normally. They're nice to look at and its good when your on the road near one and to hear those engines.
My two pals are petrol heads and spend obscene amounts of money on them and they asked me to come on their trip with my camera, so now i'm all excited at the prospect of actually being a passenger in one. I expect it would be a bit of a piss take to  ask for a go in it, but i will! Speak now or forever hold you peace. I just hope we all get back in on piece.

 :D

Edit. I should hopefully get a go in the Beemer. It'll make a nice change from driving lorrys!

If you're going to sat in the passenger seat for a few days, then it would be rude not to let you have a go.

I'm a MASSIVE car fan (which is why I became an engineer rather than an architect - decided that buildings didn't go fast enough).

Have fun you lucky, lucky bar-steward

God! You lucky guy!

I think pics or it didn't happen are absolutely needed in this thread.

I'll grab a few when they arrive. They're on their way down from Manchester now. I'll have to do them with the iPhone and upload them to here via photo bucket.

I've never driven either, and while I KNOW that the beemer is incredibly good, I've got to say that the Lambo makes it look like a boring sedan, even from those rainy-day pics!

I'm sure you're going to have a great time. Don't forget to get the stereos pumping with some meshuggah ;)

I'm not into cars, or hot countries.   But I do like that kind of holiday - travelling around and not stopping anywhere too long.

Have a good one Johnny, and show us some of your pics!  :D

Have a nice trip anyway !-)

Heck, what is a community worth if it doesn't live up to meatspace ? If you decide to pop in, just try and let me know a few hours in advance so I can manage your hosting. If you don't, no problem, I won't take it as a personal offense !-)

There was a Ferrari F140 with us too. What a great weekend at Le Mans. I was a passenger in the Lamborghini for an hour on Friday. It's incredible! Mind you the M5 can keep up with it, surprisingly.
Le Mans is a great weekend. Hundreds of thousnds of people there.

The two flash harrys in their supercars went back up to Manchester yesterday after Le Mans finished.

My pal and me are in Rochefort on the west coast right now I think we're going to head for the border.

Thanks again for the kind offer to stay in Bordeaux. I think we're going to miss Bordeaux. We really have t got any plans as we haven't made any!

Well, it happens to kinda solve my #1 problem of the day - my sister phoned early this morning to ask if we could host her for a couple days (she lives in the countryside about 200km south of Bordeaux and sometimes has to come around for her job), so I was quite in embarassement  :-/

Hope your enjoying your trip anyway despite the weather.

I know Fernando, I'm feeling that.

I've shot some video clips from inside the BMW and the Lamborghini. I'll try and upload them to facebook if you want to see them. There are a few more photos on there.

Wow! How fast were you on the Lamborghini following Ferrari movie? It was really fast when passed by the Clio :o

It's all around 100mph in those lanes. Nothing too crazy. Video never gives the feeling of speed unless you use a lens that gives the same perspective as the human eye. All that was shot on a wide angle, hand held digital camera.
Was you the local hero in the Clio Fernando?

Arrived in Ronda, in the Anda Lucia region this afternoon. Up in the mountains. It's very nice here. Not like the Marbella area!

160km/h is enough fast to me, who only had a Ford Ka 1.0l :(
This is about the maximum speed I could hit almost frying the engine

Back home tonight. I'm in a hotel near Malaga right now, near the airport. Very hot down here but not a very nice place. I liked it up in the mountains. Spain is a great country, when you get away from these resorts. Not that I've been in many.
Looking forward to getting a guitar in my hands again and my woman.  :D
