Tell me about them, are they available yet.
I am on a bit of a hendrix kick and was thinking about a set of Fender CS 69's but I saw reference to the 62's in another post and my interest is peaked
Cheers

They are available, I have one for my Strat's neck being wound as I type, so I should have it soon. :D
What I can tell you, is they are an A5 magnet and heavy formvar wire in construction. Tone as compared to a standard Apache. . . custom '62 is more woody & hollow, more cut in the highs & a tighter bottom end, similar output.
'Course you can't install yours until I get my forth coming record done first. :P

They're available.
If they're the same set which I've got (called "No. 1's"), I think they're actually closer to mother's milk than Apaches. Woody, warm, clear and with a good bite. They're not high output.
I've got that set in a alder bodied, rosewood/maple necked strat. Guitar itself is lightweight and sounds warm, and the pickups are just perfect for it!

Zaned, that sounds good. :) Are they good playing thru like JCM800 gain, or do they fall apart so-to-speak under that amount of gain? Also, I understand they're woody, but do they have that clear bell tone on the low E string?
Thanks,

WhiteRam,
the tone references I gave to Tim when asking for a recommendation, were Gary Moore's tone on the album Corridors of Power (naming his cover of 'Wishing well'), and SRV. I don't have a Marshall, but the tone is very close :) They don't fall apart.
I didn't know of this set then, they were Tim's recommendation after my quite lengthy tonal description. He had been making them a few months then.
They have excellent clean tones too! Rings a bell ;)
