Title: Spotify (again)
Post by: Lew on June 10, 2010, 04:20:12 PM
I know there a couple of threads about Spotify already but I don't think they had links to our profiles? I cba to go rummaging for the threads, anyway.  Please share your profile I wanna check out some new music!

I use Spotify, but I haven't set up a profile.  Does it only apply if you're actually paying for it?

I use Spotify  http://open.spotify.com/user/psystatic

Have you noticed that some artists are disappearing from the service?

OK, I see.

I must admit I've spent very little time exploring Spotify, I just use it occasionally to check out things I'm thinking about buying or haven't heard for years.

Here's mine (nothing much to see though!  )

Here's mine http://open.spotify.com/user/AngusJones (http://open.spotify.com/user/AngusJones), not sure how far it will get you though... when I try and view it, it tells me that AngusJones hasn't enabled sociability or something... Sounds about right

As far as I can tell I have two lists set as "public" - but it seems they're not, and I can't be @rsed to put any more effort in to find out why... (I suspect that Philly has now spent several hours trying to figure it out as well!)

psy - I've not noticed any artists that I'm interested in dropping off (there are some that were not on there in the first place).

But I have noticed that every now and again when I try and do something it starts trying to connect to my facebook account... what facebook account is that then?? pillocks

EDIT: Aha - Philly has been doin something  (listening to Bon Jovi )

$%&#, I've been outed!

How do I stop people seeing that?!

(To explain (cough) that was due to the BKP thread about the Bon Jovi documentary that was on last week.  I went and listened to the first 3 albums for the first time in 20 years...)

OK, I'm feeling completely lost here.... the "Help" in Spotify is hopeless.

I've created a playlist and put a track in it.  Can people see it?

Yep, Gentle Giant, The Advent of Panurge.

Can you see my two lists ("Fave Albums" and "Fave Songs")? According to my profile settings, you should be able to...

I've unpublished other stuff, including the "Top Artists" and "Top Tracks" that reveals what dodgy-sh1t one might have been listening to recently

I'm seeing "0 public playlists".  But I'm probably doing something wrong.  :?

How about now? (I've published the "Top Artists and Tracks" as well...)

Nope.  It says "User AngusJones has not enabled Spotify social" (with a little flag by it).

Yep, that's what I see when I follow the link above. But when I edit my profile, it tells me I have two public playlists, and there's no button to enable Spotify social (like the bumpf on their website says there should be). I've already clicked the wretched thing once, hours ago, and it seems to disappear after you've "enabled" it...

The only thing I can think of is that I wouldn't allow the Spotify client to act as a server (my firewall is configured to stop it). I have tried enabling this for a while, but to no avail... so I switched it off again.

F*ck 'em...

I have no real need to be involved with other people and their playlists anyway!

Meanwhile, I have been listening to the Nazareth remasters... whoo! I think I might be ordering some CDs :D

Hmm, I've always struggled with Nazareth.  McCafferty's an amazing singer at times, but they lack something... maybe it's just that the songwriting was never strong enough?  There's loads of their stuff I haven't heard though, I must admit.

I felt the same as you about Nazareth until a few hours ago

Out of interest, have you got a Facebook account? I've been reading their support forums about this Social cr@p, and it appears to me that they have a bug around the enabling Spotify social if you've not got a Facebook account...

They claim that you can get socialised by doing the following:
1. Click connect to Facebook
2. Click Cancel
3. Connect Later
4. Click Finish or Edit

What sort of @rse procedure is that??!!

Anyway, fine, that's what I did, hours ago. But now (I assume because I did it before), step 4 is no longer available if I try to follow these steps again... (also, there's no way to disable Spotify social at the moment!!)

No, I haven't got Facebook - and no intention of getting it either!

I'd have been very surprised if your answer had been any different!

Well, I had to log off so's we could eat steaks, watch the Grand Prix, etc... and now I can't go near Spotify (from work). I half suspect that it might be a "database issue", and it'll be sorted out by the next time I look - but that won't be for a few days...

Personally, I'm quite content with Spotify being a free "on-demand" radio station - I've no need for interraction with others. So, er, why did I waste all that time yesterday trying to make the bluddy thing work?!

Only just started using spotify again, looks like its improved a lot since I started using it! Don't really have any playlists yet.

I guess mine will be http://open.spotify.com/user/_tom_

For some reason it won't import all the music in my library folder even though it's all in mp3 with proper metadata tags.

Sorry for bumping a 2 month old thread...

...after an 11 month wait my band, 'World is Static' is finally on Spotify.  That was quite the wait.

Rockin stuff. Liking the guitars on all three, but my favourite song/track is "About You" :D

(Reading back through this thread, though, I still can't get my bluddy playlists to publish - probably just as well...)
