I always used to hate them, but looking at ES355's I can feel a slight softening of my aversion to them. Compare and contrast the pictures below - which do you prefer?
-
In the case of that 355, I prefer it without the Bigsby.
But Bigsbys are cool. They certainly look cool.
-
Yep, Bigsbys are cool :)
-
They are like Marmite - hate em or love em
-
I agree with Philly.
Somehow they don't look quite right on an ES-355.
Bigsbies are definately cool. They're the best sounding too.
-
I think they're cool...
I mean compare the two pics you've posted - which one's in focus? Yep... the one with the Bigsby
I'm not sure about on a 335 though. I don't find it that offensive. I considered doing it to my Explorer - but eventually I felt the "roundness" of the Bigsby doesn't quite go with the angularity of the Explorer...
My other options are an SG - probably not - and, I've just realised, a black Tokai Love Rock, ooo, that would quite, er, cool...
-
I have never ever played a guitar with one on but they look groovy.
-
No, Bigsbys are not cool.
-
paul bigsby was cool.
my current coffee table book:

i like the trems. especially now they can be fitted without permanent modification and i know how to string them up properly... i remember the first time really pissing me off
-
Stringing the Bigsby pisses me off more than a floyd. Not hard, just frustrating.
They do look cool, but I dont really use it.

I'm definitely in the LOVE Bigsby camp, they improve the look of pretty much any guitar imo.
I'd have one on both my Les Paul and Tele, but they're such perfect guitars in terms of tone and tuning stability that I don't want to f*uck with them.
Plus, I don't have any use for a trem playing rock covers. The day I start playing rockabilly, I'll get a Bigsby.
-
Pre bend the strings at the ball end. Keep some tension on the string while wrapping them on the tuners. it's quite easy once you get the hang of it.
Alternatively, you can take out the pins and drill holes through the bar. Then it becomes as easy as a wraparound.

No, Bigsbys are not cool.
Listen to that man. He speaks the truth.
Except when it comes to Telecasters.
Bigsbys look 'orrible.
-
Never played one...... but yeah, they're cool.

Listen to that man. He speaks the truth.
ExceptEspecially when it comes to Telecasters, the Beatles, traffic wardens, middle-lane drivers and mashed potatoes.
Bigsbys look 'orrible.
Fixed.

Why you little..!

Very cool 8)
-
Yes, indeed, the only thing that could possibly have made John and George look any cooler was if they'd played matching Bigsby loaded Telecasters while driving down the middle lane, eating mashed potato and waving to traffic wardens.
EDIT: btw, marauder - that's a fine looking geetar there sir :D
-
How weird is life? I've just come back from watching a local gig by a soul band and guess what the guitarist was rocking? A blue Telecaster with a Bigsby!! It looked absolutely horrible and he never went near the wang bar once. If only he'd had the good manners to have bought a 355 I could have ended this very contentious thread right here and now. So, they look terrible on tele's. 355's?
-
I'm sure this guy would vouch for them on Les Pauls
