Title: What's my strat made of?
Post by: ratspeak on June 17, 2010, 12:03:21 AM
I have an American Standerd Fender Strat from 1995-96 (at least that's what the fender website tells me). I have no idea what the body is made of. It's finish is solid black. When I bought it about five years ago it had a pearloid S-S-S pickguard (now it has a H-x-H purple-pearl guard   ). Just curious and hoping someone can help me out.

Edit: Oh, and I just realized this is probably in the wrong forum. If a mod could move it, I'd appreciate it.

Pretty much Alder body...

Yep, it's almost certainly alder.

They did make a few ash American Standards (or maybe they were American Series, if it was after 2000).  But I'm pretty sure they only came in a clear gloss finish.

Some burst finishes too... But the solid finishes are all Alder on American series, when I used to read their catalogue :)
