http://www.thebigfourlive.com/
im very tempted as the one in leeds wont take long for me to get to at all.
Anyone else seen this?
-
after thinking about this a bit longer i believe its going to be a really strage event
people stood up headbanging and throwing buckets of popcorn around in the cinema rather than bottles of pee!
Sounds even more like a winner
-
That would be a very strange event. I'm not sure whether 15 quid is great value for a concert or an absolute ripoff for a DVD you can't even take home though...

yeah i just caught the prices too i thought it would be normal cinema prices but no.
Im sure it will turn up on the internet shortly after anyway.
Still very tempted though

I think I will. The experience would be cool, I can't imagine how it would be, do you cheer or keep quiet for the whole thing?
Head bang of sit still?

20 years ago I'd have been all over this.
But now? At least two of those bands are WAAAAYYYYYY past their best (especially live). In fact I'd go as far as to say that only Megadeth have done anything worthwhile in the studio this century & still hold my attention in the way they used to...
-
Agreed George. Anthrax were fantastic when I last saw them (With Motorhead about 8 years ago). Metallica weren't all that great on the St Anger tour and I haven't seen Slayer before.
I'm most interested in seeing Megadeth. They were amazing when they played Wembley Arena last year.
-
megadeth are playing here at the end of the month.. cant go since i didnt get the tix, but i'm pertty broke anyway.. but.. i wouldnt go on this big4 gig anyway..
metallica nowadays are mediocre at best, i never liked slayer anyway and from what i've seen they suck live, anthrax i doubt still put up a good show, megadeth are probably the only ones that like said, still catch my interest. IMO, they should've ditched .. the other 3 and get on tour with death angel and testament. now those bands do put up a killer show. seen both of them last year and testament raised the bar of live gigs for me, by a long shot!
-
i thought they lived in america. that's a turn-up for the books.
-
Megadeth are currently on tour with testament and.. i cant remember.
And i agree metallica were terrible on the st anger tour but they were great on the 20th anniversary of puppets tour.
And Slayer ive seen far too many times and i dont even like them, they just happen to be on before bands i do want to see at festivals which always annoys me.
Anthrax i have never really paid any attention to so this should be interesting.
Theres only one thing that i dislike about MegaDave currently and thats broderick his solos whilst technically stunning are boring and sound like ass to me theres no character of emotion in them whatsoever
-
I'm kind of tempted, a "gig" that isn't stupidly loud with a nice cinema surround system
seems to cost a tenner for Liverpool
-
I saw metallica last year and they absolutley kicked arse! :guitar4:
It was Hetfield's birthday though mind, maybe they play better when its some kind of special event or occasion?
-
The only thing that puts me off seeing metallica live nowadays is the tone.
hetfields is lacking in gain and doesnt have any chug its like some grainy fuzz
and kirks randall..... thats just nasty
However from videos ive seen lately Lars drums are sounding really good and so is robs bass and hets vocals are top unless hes singing the unforgiven III

I saw them last year too and have to agree. They were tremendous, really on form.

I was at the first of the Big Four Gigs (Warsaw).
Was alright.
-
I saw all of these bands in their prime (and since), so I really feel no need to go out of my way to see them now.
Anthrax - 1989, State Of Euphoria tour (Newcastle City Hall)
Slayer - 1990/1 (???), Seasons Of The Abyss tour (Newcastle City Hall)
Megadeth, 1990/1 (???), Rust In Peace tour (with Alice In Chains supporting, f*ucking great), (Newcastle City Hall)
Metallica, 1991/2 (???), Black album tour (Whitley Bay ice rink)

+1
I'm not ever spending money on a Slayer or Metallica album again. They are way past their date of expiry.
-
Anyone know if this will be broadcast to cinemas on the July 31st date?

Hopefully the DVD is coming soon :D
