OK folks, it is that time again where me and Mrs 38th go away and this could mean no internet access but hopefully not. I am going to be doing same as last year, i.e. on a ship cruising around the Mediterranean. Tis Mrs 38th's choice but as she is paying I can't complaint ( well not withing earshot anyways). As I am going from a UK port it means unlimited baggage which means...I am taking my blue Strat and my Tascam GT-R1 so I can noodle away to the backing tracks that I have already loaded on-plus I can rig it up with my Ipod.
Anyways, usual rules apply to you lot. Play nicely whilst I am gone.

ah, a man of my heart, taking his guitar and craving internet access! have a lovely time.

Great idea Mr 38th, don't forget the battery charger! I hope you both have a great time. I'm sure you will with all that practice.

Sounds good actually, apart from the first 3 days going green and throwing up.
Enjoy! :D

Have a top one Steve!

what's the food choice like on a cruise?
I think I'd be packing brown rice and cottage cheese

Well I am back- my you guys have been busy in my absence!. Had a great time as they had a really good rock band on board and I made friends with them so I got to spend a fair amount of time talking shop ( Mrs 38th can't complain as she encouraged me!). Cruises are a bit over dominated by older people but as Mrs 38th says, rather cruelly but nonetheless with a certain amount of accuracy "You are not exactly a teenager" I can hardly complain. The visits to the various ports are always going to be superficial but you get a feel for things. The food is too good and too plentiful but the ship was bloody huge so there was lots of places where I could get peace listening to my Ipod and generally chilling. I was also able to take one of my Strats and so was able to keep my hand in- just as well as I got back yesterday afternoon and played a gig in the evening! I missed the football ( just as well by all accounts) and also the Grand Prix but I have caught up with that on BBC website. Cats are all back and are now talking to us having been somewhat aloof for the first few hours (at least until feeding time).

Great that you enjoyed it :D

welcome back :)

Welcome back Steve. :D Sounds like you had a good time. Good food, drink, a rock band, a Strat and an iPod! Did you learn many new songs or jam with the rock band?
-
Thanks Johnny, I wasn't able to jam- there was a political situation which prevented it but I had a good time with the members of the band-they were all decent blokes and good players. I didn't learn anything new though I did start writing a couple of things that I should be able to turn into a song. I also spent a fair amount of time practicing for the band-bearing in mind I had a gig on the night I got home.
