Ok - this one has been in the works for a while
Finally finished it and we're pretty pleased with it
It's a custom build for a customer - hence the very personal colour scheme (Jason is a villa fan)
The idea behind it was make a Schenker style V (but pretend he's an Aston Villa fan - like UFO bass player Pete Way)
Specs are
Mahogany body and neck
Ebony fingerboard - 12" radius/ 24.75" scale with split chevron inlays (inspired by a cadillac logo I saw on a car)
Dunlop 6000 frets, Grover tuners (i usually prefer Sperzel), Earvana nut
Tonepros bridge & Tonepros locking tailpiece studs and an Aluminium tailpiece
Pickups are BKP Cold Sweat set - the neck one is loaded into a Seymour Duncan "Triple Shot" mounting ring with switches
Two volume controls and a 3 way switch control the sound and the jack socket is mounted in the upper fin
Recessed straplocks finish her off - also has straplock buttons on the tips of the fins to stand her up on
So here she is

Looking very nice! :D
-
very nice!
apart from the colours (have nothing against av, but i'm not sure those colours should be on a guitar, lol)
EDIT: very nice inlays :)
-
Top work on the inlays, the detail on the think ones are amazing

Your Lion should be finished by the end of the month too (hopefully)
Saw it on Friday - made paint guys bring it over so I could see progress
-
Nice axe, nice inlays........... but I still shite on the villa
-
Damn Villa fans get everywhere! Looks lovely though mate. How do the switches work?

There are 4 switch combinations on the duncan triple shot
Series Humbucking
Parallell humbucking
screw coil on its own
slug coil on its own
No phase options as yet

I can't help thinking if you changed the blue to light yellow and painted the neck white it'd look like a well sucked Drumstick lollypop
Looks great though, despite football theme
-
I keep thinking... in the right light conditions, would this be a West Ham V?

It looks pretty much like that already in natural light
Thats the trouble with football themed stuff - it instantly polarises most viewers
Sort of "I like the guitar but feel obliged to hate it and need to burn it because it's a rival team's colours"
-
I had a brief look at it "in the flesh" (minus pickups and hardware) a few weeks ago.
I have nothing against Villa (or indeed West Ham), I think it looks great. :D

The detail around the nut is lovely.
-
As ever, phenomenal detail and a very classy instrument. It's a bit inspiring, too. Can I get a Strat in Tyrone colours?
-
thumb up! the finished result is great 8)
-
The guitar is nice, but the color combo is hideous and without the Aston Villa logo I doubt many people would get the reference, even in England.
-
^ It's always going to be that way with any "theme" guitar, though, even some signature guitars.
-
I love it! I'm not a Villa fan either, and if I were to buy that well... basically I'd get my head kicked in as I live and gig mainly around the West Brom area! It looks so slick... fantastic job.

I work a mile or two from the stadium too.

Yeah - football rivalry is still pretty strong and fervent in this country - which seems pretty dumb in this day and age as few (if any) of the players for most teams are "local lads", in fact many of them are foreigners completely!
I'm guilty of it myself (but in Formula 1 terms) - still find it hard to like Ferrari - mainly because I was a James Hunt fan back in 1976 (i Was 11) and Niki Lauda was the enemy/rival and he drove for Ferrari. Lauda was clearly a consistently better driver (3 times champion ) whilst Hunt was a flamboyant maverick who got lucky that one year - as Lauda would surely have won again but for the horrific accident at the German GP. Still have Ferrari issues though ....and I guess Schumacher's never ending success to the point of boredom didn't help any.

I used to be into F1 too and supported the Williams team when Mansell was driving against Senna and Prost. I think he got lucky too!

looks great, but the normal b/w colours plus this logo would make it perfect...

My girlfriend would kill me - she's a Maccum! (she comes from Whitburn - near South Shields and technically that makes her a Sunderland lass)

The owner of the guitar posted a clip from his most recent gig at a local pub where he got to use the guitar live for the first time. The lighting isn't great but it was fun to see
