It was my birthday yesterday, which was OK (apart from being even older than I was the day before). Went to visit some friends, went out for a nice meal. Overindulged a bit and threw up in the middle of the night, but that was OK too - par for the course :?.
Then I got home today to find my washing machine has died.
So my birthday present - to myself - is £275 on a poxy washing machine. Bah. :x
-
Happy Birthday!! (late hahaha) :D
-
Well... erm... Happy Birthday anyway!
-
pics of the washing machine?
and soundclips please

Obviously that's just a generic image, I'll take some proper pics of mine when it arrives.....
.....What am I saying? :?
Thx for the birthday wishes guys. :)

Congrats on the birthday Philly - mine is in 3 weeks- I might even have cake left over at the BKP bash
Sorry to hear about the washing machine
I know how you feel...
Alexa and I just spent £400 on a new one as hers died a few months ago and was pissing water out everywhere
-
I thought it was a dish washer... Very cheap there, here these things are expensive as $% :o

The weird thing is, I don't even blink about spending 100s on guitars - several times a year, sometimes - but £275 on a washing machine is just infuriating.
And that's after the old one has worked for 20 years!
(Cake would be good! :) )

We have more choice, I guess... you can get a washing machine for less than £200, but you can also spend £1,000+ on one.

Happy belated birthday Philly and congrats on your NWMD :D
-
Wow! New Washing Machine Day.
And what a score for 275. She's a beauty, especially in that fashionable white. Congratulations.
What upgrades do you have planned for it?
Looking forward to the clips.

Happy Birthday Phil!
-
not as bad as yours but for my 24th b'day my parents turned up with a big (and guitar shaped) box.
Turned out to be a trouser press.....
seriously, what fookin 24 year bloke wants a sodding trouser press.
happy birthday anyway fella
-
happy birthday phil. Sorry to hear that, I know what you mean about necessary-but-boring purchases being annoying.
^ hahahahahahahahahahahaha
-
Happy Birthday Phil!
I can't come close to that for bad birthday presents. I do need to buy a new fridge freezer though as the freezr part of ours completely freezes up and makes the fridge too warm :?
I want a SMEG fridge freezer but the cost is a little prohibitive!
-
Happy Birthday Phil! :D
You think you've got it bad: my washing machine's gone on holiday for two weeks with her friend...
I've noticed there's a box in the corner of the kitchen, looks quite a lot like your birthday present, do you reckon that might be what she was using to make my white shirts white again?

Could be... does it stare at you with a single big, unblnking eye?
-
Happy Birthday Philly - Are you taking it to the BKP meet (if Jonathan brings his it won't feel alone) :)
-
Yeah, we could put them at the back of the stage (like those tumble dryers Geddy Lee used to have).
-
In the same vein - I got a tube of Polyfilla for Father's Day....
-
Happy Birthday Philly :D
Normally I just get cards on my birthday and cheer myself up with something guitar related, which I justify on the grounds that no one bought me anything :?
Due to financial circumstance this has been postponed for the last couple of years :(

That remains a possibility, although I'm a couple of days late now!

Afghan's Top Tip!
For £275 I can usually find a very suitable "wife substitute" when the need arises :?

Happy (late) Birthday. I didn't get any presents at all last year, and kinda liked it.
-
happy birthday P.Q.
best wishes
David
-
Cheers all! :D

Happy belated birthday Philly, it's my mum's today.
And you should've looked into said washing machine technology. I heard there's one that uses steam, and that actually interested me for some reason.
I guess I'm getting all ready for the old age to come :P
-
Happy birthday Phil sorry to here about that washing machine.
-
I work in a commercial laundry and I use a £20,000 washing machine. Its awesome, and if you put your head inside (obviously when its empty and not washing) you can hear really deep bass resonance which is coool. haha.
anywayyyyy

Sorry for seeing this a bit late, but Happy Birthday Philly ! :D
Have a well deserved, happy and healthy year(s) ahead :D
The nice thing about the somewhat 'pressured' washing machine purchase, is that it ensures you won't having to be sat at the local ( or not so local ) laundrette - having your stuff being made to look / smell worse than when they went in, and then having to pay £2-3 to dry the result.
A Gentleman and scholar such as you Philly, should be allowed to choose his environment, remain fragrant - and of course feel un-inhibited when he wants to throw up at leisure. :)
For £275 you can have your very own in house 'cleaners', whereas our old mate Afghan, can only procure someone to take him to the cleaners for as much.
-
Thanks Derek!
It was indeed well worth the £275 to avoid the local launderette - which makes Dot's establishment in Walford Square look like Buckingham Palace.
And thanks to my Next account, then my trusty credit card, I won't actually have to pay hard cash for the thing until mid-September. :)

Belated Happy Birthday Philly... nice new machine there! Did the old one set on fire and ending up with a flame top?
Hope you had a great day!

Well, I did accidentally leave a set of Cold Sweats in my pocket. Not sure the 60-degree white wash and tumble-drying did them much good....
