YO!
so my dad plays/played harmonica.
I'm think of getting hold of, or building him a harp amp.
I've been looking at cheap old radio's ebay and a lot look really cool!
I dunno if there is something I should look at for ideas, so far I've been looking at low wattage simple guitar amp designs. Matchless Spitfore, Trainwreck... that kind of thing.
Would love to build him something!
any pointers? Any blues guys here know what particular guys use?
I might go off round the internerd and check the nine below zero gear list... or what Paul Lamb is using these days!

A bloke I know uses a massive Fender 4x10 thing that he had imported from the states (which uses some kind of power convertor thing). He has a huge range of Harps and Microphones and runs a delay pedal in between the amp and mic to thinken things up or add a little echo. Sounds ace.

iirc they are pretty much interchangable with guitar amps with a tweed fender champ being the ideal
maybe put a champ kit in an old radio
-
Cheers guys!
I forgot the champ! how silly of me!
My dad gave up playing harp after some terrible events, and now, after some more terrible events, he wants to get back into it... well... he's getting it out a little more.
He got himself a little combo but I think a nice little tube amp would be Ideal. I small head and maybe a 10" single speaker open back cab? stick a 10" neodymium in it maybe...
The fender may be ideal and champ kits must be easy to find and tweak! this is looking like a serious prospect.

I was about to say an old tweed Fender, but it looks like I've been beaten to the punch
Some kind of champ or princeton clone would do I reckon, there are some good clips on youtube of people playing the harp through these beauties.
Check this Harpsucker out;

I love the sound of those through the valve amps.

the turret board will make any mods a piece of piss
-
yeah man, turret is defo the way to go!
A champ is probably ideal.
I do like the spit fire though.
I want to find some stuff on using 12AT7's as push-pull output tubes.
I need to get the dimensions of an old radio and see how big a chassis I can get in it.
im really excited about this project! would be awesome if it got my dad back into playing.

Anyway, does anyone know how to play the Bum Harmonica?!

Supro/Valco/Airline/Oahu.
All came from the same factory.
All sound killer with guitar or harp.
All will lead to scoring (with chicks.)

You can't beat a small tweed amp for harmonica. Also put an analog slap back delay in front of the amp.
-
I don't think my dad is tech enough to use a delay.
I've been looking at a few things and I've got some ideas.
The tweed looks really good, and I'm going to use some of that for sure.
I think I'll build a little hybrid, but still keep it super simple to use and maintain. I had another idea for a chassis too!
