Title: Warpig or Nailbomb?
Post by: Teofrasto on December 08, 2005, 07:34:59 PM
Hi, I'm new here.
Needless to say, I fell in love with BKPs. Fact is I'm having a very hard time choosing the ultimate bridge pickup for my jackson soloist ( alder, maple neck, ebony board, floyd rose). I need some brutal rhythm sounds, plenty of chug, great definition for soloing. I also need good clean sounds, very clear and defined. I think I wouldn't like the miracle man because of the ceramic magnet, but I heard great things about the warpig and the nailbomb. At the moment, I'm oriented towards the warpig.. What do you think?

Welcome to the forum :D
I think we've talked via email so I'll leave the rest of the guys to chip in with their thoughts.

Hi, welcome to the forums!

Check out the clips over in the players section :)

I went for the Nailbomb, put it into a swamp ash star with a maple neck and floyd  rose... sounds great!!

The Warpig is a real hi-gain metal monster... the Nailbomb sounds good clean and is really versatile.

I've played the Miracle Man in one of BlackMachine's guitars and it was great for both heavy distortion settings and clean too - nice and spankin' in split mode with a clean tone.

The distortion tone was great too, chunky defined palm muting with lots of clarity - I was playing fast speed-metal riffs on the low E and there was very good note seperation.

I have a Nailbomb in the bridge of my cheapo Strat copy. It's an awesome pickup. It does pretty much anything. The cleans are great and clear, the distortion is brutal (probably not as brutal as the MM and obviously not as brutal as the Warpig). It's a very versatile pickup. My vote is for the Nailbomb :).

I've never played a nailbomb, but you just described my warpig.

I think a lot of people are afraid of the warpig for cleans.  It really does clean up nicely.  It has a deep rich tone to it.
