Title: '72 Wide Range tele humbucker vs Jazzmaster for neck pickup
Post by: thisisnickpaige on July 04, 2010, 06:38:18 AM
Now this would be for the neck position of my older Tele. I know id have to route out the body probably for both but thats okay got this body for really cheap, so im not afraid to go for it! =) So tonally wise i've played both and loved both but never side by side. They are both warm full fun pickups, can get clear bright sounds but they are very warm at the same time. They both have amazing clarity when distorted but am i missing stuff and any one else have further differences or tonal differences? Please let me know! Further more if you could suggest brands or winders for the pickups let me know! =) ALSO if anyone knows the tonal differences between grey jazzmaster pickups and the black ones other then year? Thanks guys! =) Cheers and God bless - Nicholas A. Paige

An AII P90 would be nice!

I'd go for the same thing - don't like Wide Range pickups in the neck and not fond of Jazzmasters in general.

If you want a P90 in the neck on a tele and don't want to butcher it, why don't you try one of these - http://curtisnovak.com/pickups/tele-jm.shtml

Why would i go with an AII over the others? What does that do distortion wise and for a p-90? Anything?
