can't decide if i prefer this or white lion's 'broken heart'

Ah, Thunder; good band.
Depends on which version of Broken Heart you're referring to; I prefer the original which was on their first album, Fight To Survive.

Dunno if this qualifies as a power ballad, per se ... I mean, it's not a love song, that's for sure. But still a killer ballad ... ish ... song.

This song STILL makes me incredibly sad when I reflect on ENORMOUS TALENT we lost when Criss was taken from us! :(

Haven't heard that for years - it just gave me the old cold chills down the spine! :D
Incredibly inconsistent band, but at their best they were bloody brilliant.

i dont think a ballad necessarily has to be a love song if it has that feeling - probably not the officially recognised definition though. by the way, thats a really strong track! like alot

I totally agree ... Live they were ALWAYS excellent.

Agree completely with this. Saw them for the first time supporting Deep Purple (and didn't have a clue who they were) and I enjoyed them immensely. Second time was headlining one of the smaller stages at Sonisphere, they played after $%ed Up so I got to tear around in the pit and then dance like a loon with my girlfriend at the time as she loved Thunder!

It's fantastic
If you like Thunder you should check out the Terraplane album "black and white" - Terraplane was their previous incarnation. Ignore any other albums other than Black and WHite as the record label tried to make them into a pop band , they released one album like that and then split only to reform as Thunder and do the music they liked
First Thunder album was produced by Duran Duran's Andy Taylor

I haven't listened to Black and White for years, but I seem to remember it as being pretty poppy already - nothing like their earlier singles. And weren't they on "Saturday Superstore" with silly clothes and short haircuts?
I've got the first Terraplane 7" single "I Survive" and a 12" of "I Can't Live Without Your Love" which was fairly commercial pap, but had a couple of great songs on the B side.
It looks like all their stuff is deleted on CD - crazy prices on Amazon Marketplace!
