undeniably gorgeous tone especially in the first half of vid.do you prefer them to the emeralds you have, how do they differ in your ears.(i'm slowly being tempted by a vintage hot set for my lp)

I would say the VHIIs and Emeralds are similar in that they both are very clear/transparent pickups, so they are great as well for heavy riffing. The Emerald has more mids and more gain than the VHII, but it retains that clarity, just adds a bit of creaminess to it.
It's hard to say which I prefer, depends on the task and the daily mood really.
If I could really play well, I'd probably go for the VHIIs, as they are more "pure", but being the guy I am I also like a lot the Emeralds, as they are a bit more forgiving and easier to play.

+1 - would be great to hear all BKPs like this - perhaps you could persuade Tim to send you over a complete set to demo :D
Impressed with the Steavens as well.

Well you can surely try to convince him ... but I could also pull off quite a good comparison with the ones I have actually ... maybe I will some day!
