I've got a bit of an itch to do another guitar project, as I've got some nice parts lying around that aren't getting used. Rather than sell them, I fancy upgrading a cheaper guitar so I'm looking for some ideas for a donor. The parts I have are:
* One Seymour Duncan Custom Shop hot-PAF style humbucker
* 500K CTS pots
* Lots of wire
* Amber Gibson switch tip
* Gibson-spec knobs (reflector, witch hat and gold top hat)
* Nice paper in oil caps
* Various pickup rings
* Schaller Gibson style tuners
* Tune-o-matic and stop tail
etc
I was thinking something Gibson-ish, maybe an Adrian Smith style goldtop (like gwEm built using an Agile LP)? Or a straightforward LP upgrade using a Vintage or Epi LP? Ideally, I could do with a shell of a guitar I guess.
Any other ideas folks? I'm happy to get the Dremel out and do some mods if required!

Explorer body (light mahogany) 1 pickup with a nice dark stain finish - plenty of wood grain or any off the shelf second hand body.
or..............maybe a doublecut les paul type but thinner body - kind of a junior but better spec and bound!

Worth a go if they sell cheap enough?

Cheers Phil - good spot! I'd seen the Hondo and decided against it.
I've stuck a bid on the sunburst. I'd take it for £50 but I'm not going any higher!

Browsing through the Rondo and GFS site could inspire some wild ideas.
I also know a black and bound Iceman for sale for 350 Euro.

that hondo is asking for a neil young style makeover

What about either of these (I'm thinking of them myself!):

Cheers Phil - I saw the Oxblood the other day and it's around £300 here. A great price, but a bit more than I was hoping to pay...

Whever I've decided to do a "hotrod a cheapie" project, I've always ended up buying something twice as expensive as I originally planned! :roll: :lol:

What about a kit. Here's a spalted LP for £175.

Why not an EVH style hardtail? You've got the pick up mate! That's what I wanted to do to be honest, just a single hum, volume only fixed brdge super Strat type.

What about something from the reverend line. Might not be the cheapest option, but you'll get a real nice player.
