So my band are giving it another try, but we need to inject some new blood into the system. Therefore, we are looking for:
1 x Lead Guitarist
Here's an ad I posted online: *cut and paste...*
Bane of Deceit ( www.myspace.com/baneofdeceit ) are currently looking for:
1 x Lead Guitarist
Ability to do backing vocals / screaming an advantage, but not critical.
What we'd like from the applicants:
Musical ability is a must, and ideally will dwarf my meagre capabilities. (Listen to the music on our myspace, all Guitars were recorded by me)
We can't emphasise enough how important passion and commitment are to us. We are looking for enthusiastic people with a thirst to play live and "put on a show". There's nothing worse than watching a live band who are clearly just going through the motions, or just plain not enjoying themselves.
At the moment we practice every fortnight in Exeter, but we are hoping to practice more frequently when the line-up is completed, so applicants will need to be able to get here for that (our bass player comes down on the train from Bath to practice :/ ). If you are local to Exeter, pick-up is fairly easy, but if much further afield you will have to have your own means of transport to get to us.
We have 5 solid original songs, but are trying to push the band in a more progressive direction (think Malefice, Scar Symmetry / Tesseract / Opeth / Mastodon), and therefore need people with decent ability to help us achieve this goal. So far all the songs have been written entirely by me, with our drummer and bass player adding their own flair to my basic outlines. However, I hope that in the near future, we will all be writing as a unit, helping to push each other to our musical limits and beyond.
So shredders and chuggers, get over here and apply! \m/ ^_^ \m/

Good ad. If I were a shredder or chugger (or lived in Devon), I'd apply.
-
We're not limiting it to Devon... but then the applicant would have to be loaded / have a personal Helicopter to get to practices every week.
-
So is this going to be a THREE guitar band? Or do you concentrate mainly on vocals?
-
Aye just vocals live. I'm ok playing and singing simultaneously if it's 3 chord rock, but anything more complex and I start fudging it up, heh.
*Wishes I had Mikael Akerfeldt's or Devin Townsend's musical coordination, hah!)
Plus, I'm not that great at lead playing, would be prudent to have 2 guys who are way better than me wielding the axes. :D
-
Me and Afghan Dave will give it a go, he has a helicopter and I'll give him a contro' for the juice. I'll bring the strippers and let Dave do experiments on them for the show!
Good ad though. There are loads of guitarists about that would give that a go. Ask Nolly he's in Bath. 8)
-
I believe Nolly is presently in South America somewhere, heh. But yeah, he's from Bath, like my Bass player.
We may have found someone, will keep y'all posted and chuck up some clips if we record together. :D

God, what film is that from? Old Jack's not looking well...

^ Cannonball run? Or a sequel?

Good pic Dave  Who is he Philly?
Let's start a band Dave, I'm sure you'll be able to think up some great names !
We can do the guitars, put an ad out for the drums and bass. Get an uber slut on vox dressed up in some outfits and we're on to a winner! :D

That's Jack Elam, Johnny. He was a character actor who spent most of his career in Westerns, playing henchmen then ornery old drunks (he had the face for it!).
And he was in the opening scene of Once Upon A Time In The West, which makes him pretty bloody cool in my book!

He really had this mad eye?

I hope the band project goes well Nadzilla.
One of my musical dreams is play guitar in a rock band, but as has been discussed many times its not that easy to hold a band together. Its hard to jam out and play in an experimental way with a fixed backing track.

Yeah, he was blind in that eye because someone poked him with a pencil when he was a kid. Or something like that.

Cheers, I hope so too. This is my last effort to try and resurrect a dying band really. I've told the guys that attitudes and work ethic have to take a drastic upturn, and also told them that had I gotten to talk to them sooner, I definitely would have quit the band. The extra couple of days it took for me to go meet with my drummer was all it took for me to realise how much blood, sweat and tears I had personally invested in this project, and I felt it deserved one last shot at least. I'm hoping that injecting some new blood into the line-up will give the band as a whole a good kick up the arse, and I want to be gigging again within 2 months.
We shall see, heh. Would be a shame if it doesn't work out, as the music I have written basically represents 4 years of work, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let outside influences stop me from playing it live again. :x
