Title: Lots Of Strats (and stuff)
Post by: PhilKing on August 03, 2010, 01:12:54 PM
I had Denim & Leather round a couple of weeks ago with his amps, so I got a few guitars out.  Then Gwem was around this Sunday and I got a lot more stuff out.

This is what the wife walked into on Sunday night!

It's a bit tidier now!

My wife feels your wife's pain

Although mine would say "at least she's got some decent space in the first place!!" (having met gwem, he'd make our living space look a LOT smaller) ... but she'd possibly be missing the point that we could fill/destroy any (reasonable) size space with guitars and guitar related krud just as easily

EDIT: Like the pink case!

The PhilKing relic (distressed black with exotic wood neck) might not look as convincing as the Bravewoods, but it has great tone with Tim's 69 Custom set. The bridge is wound quite hot, with no baseplate, and it as a very earthy tone, a touch dark.. well tasty anyway.

The white 50s strat behind the chess set is one of my favourite guitars, though to be honest Phil has a mean collection of strats.

It's for the shell pink hardtail strat leaning on the couch (it has a wenge neck with a bloodwood fingerboard)

It's a 61 strat with a slab rosewood board.  The one between the amps is a burgandy mist 63.  The exotic neck on the black one is a Warmoth one piece Aframosa.

So many strats. and hooray for ART gear. I have a prochannel and it's a great clean preamp/ mic recording pre. so much stuff packed into 2U.

That one piece neck looks awesome. how does it sound?

I like PhilKing threads.  Always make me feel less guilty about all the stuff crammed into my own flat.

(That TV set is a behemoth!)

John made a great job of it.  It is really light, and the neck is a copy of my 57 strat with a couple of mm's width added at the nut.  I also love the way he has the wear pattern on the fingerboard.  It has a Slowhand in the bridge and AV Apaches in the middle and neck.  They work really well as a combination.  The Fiesta Red HSS strat is also a Bravewood, it has a lot of original parts (including the scratchplate - I have had it years).   It has a Rebel Yell/ Mother's Milk set in it.

I think it is a little mellower than maple, but still having the attack.  GwEm would tell you best, he was playing it a lot!

I think I'd agree with that, but its hard to say - the swamp ash body is pretty nice too, with a balanced tone. I'd have thought the middle and neck pickups of the 69 set might have quite brutal attack in the wrong guitar - in fact the sound was good and full.

Thanks for the kind words everyone - I know I have severe GAS, but I have come to live with it through the years  :D

I want to actually get everything out one day, but I would need to rent a truck and a hall to put it all in!
