Just came back home with a Marshall 1965A cab (slanted 4x10, Celestion G10L35).
Spotted the ad this afternoon, called the guy, add a good time trying the cab with my hotrod and a couple guitars (my beloved Vox Custom 24, of course, and also the guy's SG Standard and cant-remember-which strat), and made the deal.
Got it for €190, which I think is a good price - the cab has obviously been used (bordering on abuse), but no structural damage and boy, it sounds good , just brings in the rounded-but-tight, growly low-ends my HRDx was lacking, perfectly compliments the hi-end sparkle and smokey mids of the Eminence Legend GB 12/8 in the combo's open-back cab 8)
Oh, and yes, it's just the same width and depth as the HRDx so they stack perfectly

I spent a couple hours trying the thing this evening, and while I already knew how much the speaker could change the tone, I now learn that open-back vs close-back also makes a big difference (always had open-back combos so far).
I can't tell for sure until I'll have used the thing with the band, but I think it will really add was I found missing in my tone - tight, focused low-end growl. FWIW, it's amazing how marshmalley a HRDx sounds thru a Marshall cab

I've 4x12" cab GAS for a while :(

I think 4x10 cabs are underrated. They kick you in the chest like using P90s! Nice score!!
Have you seen the relatively new Celestion G10Ms?

Well, it's the first 4x10 I ever use (and the first closed-back cab I ever own), but when driven loud enough (which FWIW is not "insanely loud" - seems like "loud playing rock band rehearsal volume" is enough) it really has some PUNCH , yet doesn't get muddy.

Nope. FWIW, I'm mostly pleased so far by what comes out of this cab, and I don't plan on modding it until I have good reasons and enough background !-)
Anyway : I can't find neither the G10L35 (nor the G10M FWIW) on Celestion's website, does anyone have some clue about where I could find datasheets for these speakers ? Googling didn't really help so far - most of the mentions of G10L35 are mainly about them being in the 1965 cab, and not much actual data :-/

My bad :P
But I still have 4x12" GAS and 1x15" or 2x15" too... Not sure of 4x10", don't know how they compare to 4x12"

Is this your xmas whishlist ?-)

Not enough experience with both to tell yet - this is my first closed cab, always been an open-back combo user so far. But there's at least one major difference wrt/ any 4x12 : at least you can grab this one in one hand an your amp head or whatever in the other hand
Else, well, you obviously get a bit less low-end (compared to a 4x12 that is), but still more oomf and growl than with a 1x12 or 2x12 open-back. Don't know yet what comes from the cab and what comes from the speakers, but with my HRDx I get nice, rounded yet tight - definitly not boomy - lows, very punchy mids and sweet, "smokey" highs.

I was hoping a Xbox 360, but won't get :(
Ah, thanks :) Will try to play on one someday, beside it seems like a long way from now...
