Title: There really is nothing better...
Post by: Twinfan on August 08, 2010, 07:44:59 PM
...than playing your absolute favourite guitar, after having fitted a fresh set of strings and treated the fingerboard with lemon oil, on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Absolute bliss, and worth selling the Ducati for  :D

Very nice- I shall refrain from horticultural comments as my own garden is jungle like right now.

Yeah I thought you Brits always cut the grass with nail scissors?

By the way talking about lemon oil. I got a bottle of this Fret Doctor stuff and gotta say, it's most awesome stuff. With Lemon Oil it always looked nice for 2 days and then seemed to dry out somewhat. This stuff keeps it dark and juicy (not sticky).

^ some people do. their aim in life seems to be to make the rest of us look bad

i hate restringing, it takes time away from playing. plus i'm rubbish at it and it normally takes 3 times as long as it should

I've never cut the grass in my garden.  Fortunately it dies back a bit in the winter.

On a more serious note, not sure about the "really is nothing better than playing" thing.  I'm not interested at all at the moment.  This rut I'm stuck in is getting pretty deep after 25 years.  Often think about just packing it in altogether, but I still like the guitars themselves too much to just dump them.

I think I need something more life-changing than that - a near-death experience perhaps?  :?

(That's not an invitation to anyone to "almost" kill me....  :| )

I should hope not!

A decent amp can be a tone-changing experience  ;)

Same here :\ I kind of forced myself to record something the other day just to "keep going" as it were, and it just came out awful. I haven't been that inspired by guitar for ages. Think it's probably time to give up trying to write my own stuff as I'll never find a stable band for it and just focus on learning a load of new covers to have fun with and push me out of my comfort zone a bit!

I hope that you'll find the urge for playing guitars again, Philly. Mine always goes up and down and right now I'm riding a high wawe.

If you don't feel the rush at all anymore I'm sure you got a tele you'll be willing to sell to me

Oh God No.  Ugh.   :x   No appeal whatsoever.

And what could be more humiliating than being found dead Michael Hutchence/Stephen Milligan/David Carradine/Kristian Digby stylee?  I know you wouldn't be around to worry about it, but what a way to be remembered.  :?
