Hey guys,
I got to go and collect this beauty from the Dæmoness workshop on Monday:

(It's worth noting that in real life, the guitar doesn't have the almost purple-y tinge present in the pictures)
There is a thread detailing the build with about 150 pictures of the build process here: http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/luthiery-modifications-and-customizations/113092-custom-d-moness-7-string-buildstory-lots-of-maple-y-goodness-within-many-pics.html (http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/luthiery-modifications-and-customizations/113092-custom-d-moness-7-string-buildstory-lots-of-maple-y-goodness-within-many-pics.html).
Final specs:
Dæmoness Cimmerian 7 body, w/Contemporary carve option
Set-neck construction (w/thumb-notched heel)
5A quilt maple top on a korina body
3pc flamed maple neck, ebony board. Black binding
Bare Knuckle pickups: Rebel Yell bridge, VHII neck (also BKP custom pots and NOS Russian cap)
Hipshot bridge and locking tuners, recessed Dunlop straplocks
The fit and finish are absolutely flawless on this thing, but I expected no less from Dylan, having observed the whole process. The setup job is incredible, the action is practically on the deck but there is no buzz or anywhere on the board. The frets are dressed and crowned to perfection, and in general the guitar is a dream to play. I'm so happy with how the neck profile came out, it's perfect for me.
One cool thing is that with the fairly steep headstock tiltback, the strings have an extra stiffness when you hit them or bend them. I dig this alot, because I love the sound of lighter strings, so this way I get the sound I want with the solid feel you get with heavier gauge strings.
Tonally, it is excellent. It's got a lovely snarl in the midrange, but coupled with a nicely smooth top end and incredible clarity across the range (gotta love BKPs!). The VHII in the neck of this guitar is giving me what has to be my favourite neck tone to date - juicy, with a wonderful flutey hollowness.
You can hear a couple of clips of the guitar here:

So yeah, a very positive experience, I highly recommend Dylan to anyone looking for a top notch custom. (www.daemonessguitars.co.uk)

badass
did you have to buy a new keyboard too, so you could write "Dæmoness"
that thumb notch looks cool, i was wondering what that was :D
-
Looks very well built and put together!!
Not my sort of guitar (I dont like Seven Strings or superstrats) but it sounds like you are very hapy with how it turned out so more props to you!!
Happy playing!

Not at all my kind of thing, but it looks beautifully made. It's got something of the Blackmachine vibe but a bit more curvy and friendly looking.
How do you find the Hipshot tuners? I've always thought they seem a bit odd with the exposed gears.
-
I'm so jealous, my keyboard doesn't have an æ key
-
Very nice indeed- beautiful finish.
-
looks alright I spose :-p

Lovely looking guitar Nolly, hope you get a lot of pleasure out of it...

JEEZ Nolly! She's a beaut! Nice one on the NGD mate, must have been agonising waiting for that! Is that why you took yourself off out of the country, to TRY and get your mind off it? Hah!
Can't wait to hear more of her in action. :D
-
That's a beauty Nolly
I'm a fan of what Dylan does - I should really speak to him and tell him (have spoken to him and Tom Waghorn in the past but usually just to sell Earvana to them)
I had a good look at the thread on 7 string.org and loved all the pix
Roo's sister guitar looks great - love the water droplet inlay

Lovely! :D
-
Beautiful guitar Nolly, love the look of the blackburst, the no hole p/up covers set it off nicely too.
-
Very nice indeed. Enjoy
-
Cheers chaps :)
Dave, on macs æ is alt + '. Nice and easy!
Philly, the Hipshot tuners seem absolutely great, extremely direct and smooth.
Feline, yeah Roo's guitar came out amazing. Here's a full body shot for anyone interested:

WOW!
Nolly, your guitar is a piece of presicion engineering but that looks like a piece of art!! I'd be scared to touch it!
Again, its not my cup of tea guitarwise but truly stunning visually and the build quality looks amazing!

Hahah, yeah, Roo's is definitely the artier of two. That said, I just grabbed a couple of snaps outside that are far more representative of the quality of the quilt:

Adam - they are both lovely guitars - I do love the artiness on Roos one , but your's has an elegance all of it's own
-
Like others, not quite my kinda thing, but....
WOW!!
Those look fabulous :D
-
Wait a minute, that's not my guitar!
Unless someone is offering to give it to me :D
Only kidding, I'm more than happy with my WezV Baritone 6 :)
Looking great, Nolly!
-
both those guitars look absolutely fantastic. i gotta say, i'd go for the blue one myself. the whole guitar is beautiful, but that waterdrop inlay is magnificent! :)
not to take away from yours Nolly, it looks beautiful, and extremely well put together. health to enjoy ;)
-
Nolly you've managed to get yet another absolutely awesome guitar in your collection! I love the quilt between the pickups on yours.
But Roo's Inlay has got to be one of the best inlays I have seen, simply brilliant craftsmanship. Do you think he would do a Les Paul/ PRS singlecut style 7? as most of his designs are very metal (not that its a bad thing!!!)
-
There's an option of 'other' on his quote form so I imagine it's likely he'd do what you wanted? http://www.daemonessguitars.co.uk/quoteform/quote.php

Yeah I saw that, but from the questions page on his website I get the vibe that he prefers to just make his own designs and very 'metal' ones at that. but thanks for the link anyhow.
-
They're good at bookmatching aren't they.
Both are very nice.

For a moment I thought you have changed your mind, became a multi-guitar owner, many switches, knobs fan and of course the BIGGEST fan of Sir McCartney :P
Both are gorgeous!! The water drop inlay is just insane!
-

Yep, pretty sure he would be up for it, though he would probably want to work in some of his own style into the design. I actually asked him about doing a singlecut a lá ESP Eclipse, and he seemed pretty keen to try something along those lines.
-
Awesome guitar! I went through the build thread too. The cut for thumb rest was very clever. Exactly like you said, that is one of the exact reasons for going custom..getting the guitar tailored to one's playing style :harp:
I love the thematic design on Roo's guitar too! The inlay is beyond cool 8)

Looks awesome! Just be careful adjusting the intonation on the Hipshot bridge-- you'll have to slacken the strings off completely, otherwise the height adjustment screws dig into the paintwork and scratch it all, which then looks really horrible.... i found that one out the hard way :(
-
what a beauty. and thanks for the heads up on the hipshot Oli, my 8 string has one too. damn fine piece of hardware
Are these metal covers? they look plastic but somehow i don't think it's very BKP like to use plastic.
