Ok, gwEm and Feline have organised a few southern get togethers now and all us northerners only have the one I organised to show for ourselves.
Poor.
Piss poor.
Is it about time we got something north of Watford organised???
-
How about something in West Yorkshire? Theres a few up here that dont drive.
-
(http://www.rotherham-ghosts.com/M1%20Motorway.jpg)
Hope this goes ahead!
-
I think that it's because there's no electricity oop noorth, Dave.
-
Yes.
Very much so.
-
There's a good chance Shobet and I may attend.
-
Yorkshire way would suit the Manc folks and the Hull-ites on the board as it would be central. There's Keith up in Geordieland too, so it'd be reasonable for him as well.
Anyone in the Leeds-ish area know a good venue?
-
If it is a Leeds meet-up then I'll try and make it up there, I've never been free to do the Southern ones and Leeds is a two hour blast up the M1 for me, no problem at all!
Paddy
-
I'm an hour or so south of Leeds, so count me in too
-
Will there be a pub nearby?
-
I am moving back oop north in a couple of weeks, I would def be interested.
-
So we need a location in Leeds near a pub, and an organiser.
Come on someone!!!

I think you volunteered for that when you started the thread, dave ;)
-
I'm not in Leeds though am I. I can do something in the Manchester area again if required, but we'd need a different venue near a pub...
-
True
I'd be alright with manchester, fwiw. I prefer it to leeds, since I went to umist and know it moderately well. Not that I can organise it there, since I'm in sunny whitehaven
Which actually is sunny at the moment, for a change
-
In fact, I will DEFINATELY come to this as I know TwinFan has a load of MJW/Martamps. I'm very interested in the Orion.
Paddy
-
Well what kind of Venue are you looking at
i know a really good practice room in wakefield thats £30 for 6 hours and i know a few good pubs too
over leeds way i know a practice room which is a bit out of the city centre but theres a decent pub right near the bus station with loads of pool tables and a jukebox that has a really decent collection of rock/metal from the 80s right up to now
-
I'm in. :)
-
Either of those sounds fine to me mate?
-
Sounds good to me.

Paddy
My new 36w one is on the way soon. I could bring the head along
-
well ill chuck the links of the various places up for people to check out
this is the one in wakefield which im still to check out (should be heading up this weekend)
this is the leeds one
http://www.jamstudios.co.uk/
i have used Jam quite a few times and found there backline to be extremely lacking but i doubt that will be needed.
Also if a drummer is needed i can knock out a bit
-
any idea of dates?
-
If there's enough MJW/Martamp interest, I'd be willing to sponsor the event, to the tune of room hire and a couple of slabs of ales, or first round of drinks in the pub.
Only if that's not being too pushy? Obviously doesn't stop anyone from bringing other amps.
I can bring the Cub, my V6-20 and the Electra High Gain prototype.

Now that I AM very interested in! As much as I love my JCM800, I'm getting pretty bored of it and I don't really want any new guitars...
Paddy
-
I can bring the MJW Orion (if it's been tweaked by then) plus my Bogner Ecstasy.
And obviously a guitar or two ;)
-
Tell you what, I'll bring my JCM800, Gibson SG and pedal board. Mainly for comparison purposes as I don't own flash gear like you lot ;)

On the contrary, sounds great to me.
High gain prototype you say....
I'll bring the Legra Aurora (with the BK Aftermath in the bridge).
-
Not your level of high though - think Hot Rod Marshall ;)
-
Awwwww
Fair enough. Still a kind offer though - doesnt do anyone any harm.
-

the Orion or the Electra?
Paddy
-
Electra.
Although my Orion is being modded to something similar once Martin has finalised the spec...
-
Hmmmm. Very tempted to know more about all of this.
-
The Electra High Gain has more gain than a typical hot-rodded Marshall.
-
Sorry mate - over to you!
-
What sort of specs and tonal ballpark (most similar amps) are we talking about here?
-
I'll let you know when it's finished! :D
-

Indeed! Sounds great so far though ;)
-
Count me in for this guys, I too can never make the southern ones and my sister lives in hull so its a shorter drive that way too.....
I can bring my Powerball, one of the Tremonti's, my miracle man loaded custom 22 and my nailbomb loaded Schecter. maybe my EC-1000 if I've not sold it by then...
But this high gain MJW sounds very intriguing.....
-
Well done for getting this running Dave
I wont be likely to make it but I hope it's a good 'un!
Think these events are good fun as well as being good for the forum too
-

You're a Corby lad aren't you? We could share the journey, I'm in Kettering.

Yeah Sounds good, just depends whether my sister boyfriend wants to come (he plays guitar but ive not managed to get him over to BKP's yet).
-
Depending on timing, I would love to get to this one - be it Leeds or Manchester ; largely due to the 'cast list' of forum members - and the chance to try some nice MJW gear on clean ( -er than clean ). I would only be carrying my much beloved 'pimped' Vintage archtop fitted with B.K.P. Manhathans , but perhaps I can warm up a couple of the amps for the rest of you - before any serious electron flow , and /or anything exciting starts happening.
I would not be bringing my 'Dream' Jazz rig with me - but perhaps that's just as well, as I know solid state amps can induce nausea in true Rockers, AND I feel Martin's stuff should be fully explored and admired at this juncture. The occasional "Before and after" demo's would be quite surreal ; with me playing a soft Jazz standard on the clean channel, before Mark, Dave , et all take the high gain channel to somewhere truly 'rude' ...
-
I'm sure your mellow tones will be very cool Derek 8)
OK, we still need a Leeds local to co-ordinate this thing. Any volunteers???
-
depending on the date (i.e. if I'm not gigging), I'd be up for Leeds.
-
I'll be up for this - dates depending of course.
Happy to give people lifts if it helps - Wez, I'm sure I can shoot your way again if you're thinking of going.
-
oh, that would make things a lot easier - cheers Ian
It will depend on dates, but i think i am up for it
-
Great idea Dave. I'm late in as always but would be up for the drive from the Midlands if we're not gigging.
-
It's no good thanking me folks, we need a Leeds-ish rep to arrange this or it won't happen!!!!
-
we need a Leeds-ish rep to arrange this or it won't happen!!!!
yeah, come on you Leeds people!
-
Right, clearly our Leeds colleagues aren't stepping up to the plate here :(
Anyone up for another Manchester one?
-
Same place as last time?
-
Probably, but there's no pub nearby unfortunately. Unless you know somewhere else?
What about your place in Macc?
-
I'm up for Manchester - dates permitting.
-

What about your place in Macc?
The place in Macc would be just as good I think. The rooms are a bit smaller than the one we used in that one in Manchester but there's more than the one room and plenty of ale houses around the corner. It's got off road parking as well so it may be just the ticket. Plus Macc is on the main Euston -> Manchester rail line as well and it's about a 10 minute walk, from the station to trackside.
Have we got any preferred dates so that I can approach them? Numbers expected may also help so we can gauge how many of the rooms we need?
If people fancied staying over there's a Travelodge right next to the railway station or my local does a limited number of B+B places.
http://www.tracksidestudiosltd.co.uk/ they're open 9 - 5 on Saturdays.
-
Trackside would be perfect then mate, sounds like a plan!
Saturday 16th of October might be a good date, as myself and Martin are gigging with Doppelganger than night at the Swan With Two Necks on the other side of Macc!
-
It's open 9-5 on Saturdays. Shobet is looking in to things at the moment.
I was in the pub with him last night and he was well on his way. In his bleary eyed state he has managed to lock himself out of his forum account, so he may be quiet for a day or two
-
Ha ha!
-
so he may be quiet for a day or two
Quiet! My $%ing arse...
Right, room provisionally booked for the Saturday the 16th of October. It's going to be £40 for the room all day.
So now I need to start collecting names of who intends coming. Can I ask that you PM me so I can start collating a list. If you gib out of it with some lame excuse on the day I will hunt you down and do what Matt normally does through ladies letterboxes to yours. Except mine wont be accompanied by that Renée and Renato song.
-
I'm in mate, obviously, will send you a PM now seeing as how you asked so nicely....
-
shite, I'm not going to be able to come to this. I work 1 in 4 Saturday's and this so happens to fall on mine. Balls.
Paddy
-
Now we've decided on a date for this I've started another thread to deal with the organising here - http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=22091.0

Bump, just in case anyone has missed it, the organising of this Oop North get together is being dealt with here http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=22091.0
