Title: The Lake District
Post by: Ian Price on August 12, 2010, 04:16:29 PM: I've been up here for nearly a week now and have developed a bit of a liking for it. Great roads, great scenery, reasonably cheap and decent people (apart from the tourists :D).

Driving over the Kirkstone Pass was pretty stunning - the sun was just about to set and provided some fantastic scenery.

Anyone on here from these parts?

I helped design the sewage works in Whitehaven. Spent a year keeping surfers turd free.

I like it up those parts, but like Cornwall, there's just no work for me :(

I was just visiting and have just got home to sunny ( :?) Basingstoke. 310 mile journey with two kids, two dogs and a great selection of CDs!

Apologies for threadjack but I live in Basingstoke too, although I'm not originally from here (ex-pat northerner :))
