Just to show how old I am, I clearly remember them representing the UK at the 1979(?) Eurovision Song Contest with a song called "Mary Ann".  It was quite catchy.  :lol:

They weren't a novelty act then, they were a proper band and sounded exactly like Smokie.  In fact the lead singer (the dead bloke, I think) went on to join Smokie.  Before he died, obviously...

they opened by doing a medley of 80's classics, which kind of annoyed me cos it felt a bit like watching Karaoke. the audience was mostly in their mid 20's. Lots of people in Hawaiian garb. Inflatable props. It was a good laugh. I was super tired and sore so I had to take it easy which meant i avoided the giant conga pile up. they ended with gangbar... which for me is a sinister tune.
