Hi all - I actually quite like the tone of the 490/498T pickups in my '08 SG Standard but I'm feeling the pull (again) to load it with BKP.
I'm a fan of classic rock, with my leads being a tad heavier. Would the VHII sound OK in the bridge?
Anyone got any experience of this or any recommendations? I also need the pickup to clean up well when the volume is rolled off, and I'm especially after a pup with good low end/low mid, not so much the high end. And any recommendations for a compliment for the neck? Something smooth, can rock out to mild classic rock/great cleans...
Sorry for another what pickup in an SG thread but the choice is vast so I'm relying on your words of experience,
Thanks

I have a set of set of VHII in a Gibson faded SG. They ended up in there more due to having the pickups spare and not being happy with what was in trhe guitar.
The guitar has had the stock pickups which I found muddy. Cannot remember if it was the bridge or neck or both (was a few years ago). I swapped these out for a set of Seymour Duncan phat cats (P90 type). These brightended the guitar up and were better. Niceish when clean especially for chords. Though they were a bit harsh with the dirt added.
The VHII I would say are much brighter sounding than the 490/498t pickups. I would say there is more top end on the VHII's as compared to the stock pickups. For me I like them in the guitar though I would say there is considerable difference between them and the stock.
