The new PRS 53/10 pickup. Now where did they get that idea?

the good news is they read forums in guitar company desks...But its sad to see that unique finish come accross a big guitar company...With such priced guitars they could at least ask if you want some bkp's in it. :P
-
Is a Gibson styled court case on the cards?
-
that is so lame. only bkp is allowed to do this. Tim should charge royalties!
-
motor city pickups also do this as do a lot of other 'handwound' pickup manufacturers too.
the worst thing about those PRS ones is that they look absolutely terrible in comparison

Yeah, I don't know if BKP were the first to offer burnt chrome covers or not, but it is "interesting" to see PRS doing it.
And I agree, they don't look great (and they don't suit the guitar at all). It's also a bit naff that the 53/10 logo is upside-down on the bridge pickup.

Burnt chrome is such a cool feature. I'm suprised other pick up companys don't offer them. Perhaps someone at PRS has been drooling over our guitars!

I don't think they suit ANY guitars. But it really surprises me to see them stuck on a quilt top, it just looks bizarre. Course, PRS previous mixed gold and silver hardware so you've got to expect the worst

I really like the burnt chrome look, in itself, but I've never had a guitar I thought it would suit.
PRS drive me crazy with their mix'n'match hardware. They're starting to use a lot of unplated brass bits now (although apparently that's for tonal reasons). But I've never understood why they use nickel-plated bridges and pickup covers, with chrome tuners - they're PRS branded tuners, FFS, why not just get Schaller (or whoever supplies them now) to make them in nickel?

Now this is a BKP burnt chrome cold sweat on a prs...

Yep ! I agree with that !
Is PRS lacking some "inspiration" ? Come on Paul ! PDT_050

i am sure i remember gibson having something similar a few years ago
found it - the gibson 58 hot rod les paul with 'heat oxidized pickup covers'

the guitar looks great but the pickups dont look half as good

Well done Wez, I've never seen that one before. Nice guitar, but the pickups don't suit it at all.
