I've really been struck with a serious case of GAS for a modular amp. The Egnater modular amps especially. They really seem to deliever great tone very close the originals the modules imitate And the great thing about the Egnaters is that all the modules have two channels compared to the Randalls that only have one.
I really like to play a lot of different styles so a modular amp would suit my needs SO well. I know at least a few guys at the forums have experience with the Egnater modular series. Please share your knowledge on these amps.
I read somewhere that the Egnaters are only sold in the US now. Is that true? If it is I'm gonna cry!

Oops - sorry I didn't reply to your PM yet on this subject
The Egnater modular amps and preamps currently only have US distribution
There are at least 3 guys ont the BKP forum who have them
Waiting for yours to be built and made available is the hardest part (other than paying for one ) although having a permanent search on ebay and the two forums that cover Egnater stuff is well worthwhile especially in the classified section

I have 2 Egnater M4 preamps and lots of modules and am very happy with them
I also have 3 Randall RM4 preamps loaded - so I am heavily invested in the system (it's a bit obscene really)
There is a Czech guy who does great modifications to the modules

Watch out - it's pretty addictive

I really have to start saving up for a Egnater mod50, but it'll probably take me a LOOOONG time :(
-
You'll probably have the money by the time they get round to building one.
Seriously - keep an eye out on the two forums - more likely to find one that way , as they were having changes to how and where the Mod 50 is built

Since you both have Egnater and Randall modules, Jonathan, which ones do you like the most?

I think you should definitely get one of these then :)

I would love to own that massive Randall modul rack!!! Are you gonna buy it for me, Hunter? :D

Thats great, but there's no enough space for the egnater modules :D

Comparing the features of the Randall RM4 & the Egnater M4, it seems to me that the Randall is better designed - it has FX loops which IMO is a major omission on the M4 (& one of the reasons I went for an Engl SE preamp instead), along with pre & post loop outputs for flexibility. The only downside (as I understand it) is that it won't take the dual-channel Egnater modules, only the single channel randall ones. But it is around 600 cheaper all in than an M4....
Those Salvation mods look & sound tasty... :)

i have a friend selling a Randall RM4 preamp - a v good way into it
The older Egnater M4 that only took single channel modules was exactly the same as the Randall RM4
It lost the loop when it got the dual channel module facilities
The randall modules are good - my faves being the Lynch `Mr scary , and Brahma, Plexi, and `Kirk Hammet KH2
The Salvation modules give you stuff like ENGL, Diezel, VHT, CAE, Framus etc too

Years back when I was amp hunting (resulting in me buying the Shiva) I tried an RM100 with all kinds of modules at the European Distributor in Holland - my fav was the Plexi module, that one really sounded great. But I didnt care for all the other stuff.

What's the price tag on your friends RM4 preamp, Jonathan?
I know nothing about the preamp business so which poweramp is a good match with the modular preamps?
