Hey guys, I think I've mentioned this a couple of times on some posts - but as yet no pics. Went down to see the progress and sort out a couple of details for my Jaguar/Firebird hybrid custom that Jon (Feline Guitars) is currently building.
Spec:
Jaguar styled body made from korina
Firebird headstock
25" (PRS scale) Maple bolt on neck with asymmetrical carve
Ebony fretboard with compound radius/stainless steel frets/crown inlays
Earvana Nut
Steinberger gearless tuners
custom pickguard
Maestro/Lyre/Vibrola Trem
BKP 12 pole Rebel Yell Bridge pickup
TV Jones Magna'tron neck pickup
Graphtech ghost bridge with piezo saddles
custom wiring (yet to be finalized by Jon)
Metallic Teal finish
Here's some in progress shots

Looking good so far. You have some nice specs on your design.

the headstock in particular screams class. i'm not a fan of jaguars but as usual i'm very impressed by the quality
of feline's guitars.i'm sure you'll be thrilled with the finished guitar.

Jonathan builds the shizzle! 8)

That looks great- I look forward to seeing more and indeed, the finished result.

That should become quite something.
Very odd combination of parts. What's the philosophy behind all this.
(I'm not saying I don't like it. In fact I like it alot)

So cool! Interesting Mix and definitely a badass, unique axe!
As I scrolled down I got worried, but relief came when I saw that Jonathan let the frets go over the neck binding. I hate the Gibson plastic ends on the fret edges.

Cheers guys, yeah it is quite an odd idea guess I'm just wrong in the head.
Concept was really that all the parts were little bits I'd always liked from different guitars both technically an/or aesthetically. Although the layout is a bit different more like a three knob triangle and a strat input jack - Jon might have that pic when we lay out stuff as the trem arm gets in the way of the normal lower control plate - I actually prefer the way it came out looks more hybrid now.
Love the jaguar shape myself and it feels so comfortable too but my hands are a bit too big for the shorter scale. and this way I could have a more interesting pickup combination/wiring design than in a regular guitar without ripping it apart.
Can't wait till it's finished, not entirely sure how long it's gonna be but I'll update this if I get any more feedback from Jon.

So kind of like a reverse of the Feeder guitar...I like it, look forward to seeing the final product.

Actually you've got a good point
Martyn had the ideas pretty well sorted out although it got a whole lot better and clearer once we had a chance to put our heads together once we had taken the project so far .
It was only once we got the Gibson ?Maestro style vibrola on the guitar that we realised how it made that end of the body feel more Gibson /Firebird like and it made sense to rear mount the controls as Gibson would do and also the trem got in the way of where a Jaguar scratchplate's volume and tone would have been, so a quick bit of creative thinking came up with a more elegant option, which manages to blend the two iconic guitars together a bit more on the body than we had first envisaged.
Still a few challenges ahead as we would really like to find a control plate from a Fender Bass 6 to let us have a special wiring option that we'd like to have - like this one (if anyone knows of one let us know)

I got a custom Jag plate from this guy and he does the Bass VI plates too - although they are all marked as out of stock at the moment. Worth an email though as this has been the case before and they came in a couple of weeks later:

A lot of the website is in French, but he speaks/writes English as well.

That's looking really classy. Think I probably would have gone hardtail but I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
