The wife and baby are in Devon at the minute with her folks. She was walking off the beach carrying the baby last night and slipped off a rock on the way back to the car. End result was that they're both a bit battered and brusied. She has a couple of grazes and is fairly sore and Finley has a broken leg. Sounds like Carloline took the brunt of the impact and is feeling especially guilty.
It's the poor little dudes first birthday next week too :( He's got a fairly hefty cast on at to get him home (5 and a half drive) and we have to get it changed for a light weight cast on Monday (day before his birthday). Apparently he cried for a bit (but not inconsoleable) and by the time they got seen at the hosptal he was giggling and smiling and trying to put weight on it. He really is a tough little dude.
Hopefully the photo of the little chap will upload.

Oh, there's nothing worse than seeing a little one get hurt :( - even when it's a "near miss" your heart is in your mouth, must be far worse when there actually is a serious injury.
-
Yeah man, I'm 250 miles or so from them and was already on my third beer when I found out so couldn't drive down.
They're back today though, so looking forward to seeing them. Apparently the A&E was full of little boys that had broken something. Doctor said it must be the day for it.
The first A&E they went to closed 15 minutes before they got there and they refused to come out and see him. They didn't even know if he'd smacked his head or not. Wifey and inlaws had to drive nearly an hour to the other nearest A&E. Luckily enough my brother is an A&E Nurse and is going to bitch slap them good and propper.
Just filled the cupboard with Calpol.

Ah he is a cute little chappie. I wish him a speedy recovery. I know that feeling well having had two sons who had their share of scr@pes as they grew up.
-
Ouch!
They're resiliant little buggers though, aren't they? My eldest dislocated his arm when he was 3, and made less of a fuss than his dad does when he stubs his toe...
-
Sad to hear it!! :( Hope he gets recovered soon!
But seems like a new Rugbier is growing
-
Bless the little chap, heres to a speedy recovery!
My Missus has worked in Nurseries and been a Nanny since she was 18. I've heard all sorts of stories about kids having accidents and they pretty much just shrug a lot of them off!

Aww, get well soon little guy!
-
What a lovely little son you got there, ToneMonkey! A real gem.
-
Cheers guys.
He certainly seems to be making less of fuss than I would if I was in his position. He woke up last night in a bit of pain but all in all he's doing real good.
He's certainly a cracker, real happy little chappy. The photo's were all taken a month or so ago, so he's even bigger now. Thought I'd add another (I'm looking directly in to the sun BTW, I don't normally look like this much of a tw@t).

He certainly is a cutie - he looks a lot of fun :D
Hope he heals quickly.
By the way, was anyone else thinking "Omigod!!! What's he done to himself??" when they first saw the thread title? I was half expecting to find big input from Afghan Dave on this subject

I did actually damage my little man once, snapped my banjo string clean in two. Doesn't hurt that much, but when you look down and see the amount of blood that comes out, then you really start you worry
Just got back from the hospital to have his plaster changed and he's doing really well. They think he'll only need the cast on for a few weeks more so good news all round. I'll try to get a photo of the poor little dude in his cast

hope the kid gets back into good shape soon enough :)
