Title: Graph tech GHOST Piezo - PRS example
Post by: Dr. Vic on September 13, 2010, 08:32:05 PM
Hi,

Has anyone played a Graphtech GHOST Piezo ? Is it any good ? One demo here :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhGA1c3E47c

And also one video showing how to fit it in a PRS with no additional hole, extra cavities, etc. Clever !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZLOs23Vx6o

It seems to sound pretty good but can this be a good as - or better  than -  the regular PRS / LR Baggs system
(which is not for available for sale separatly anyway....  :snipe:)

Thanks !

This is really cool, im more interested in the midi capability than the piezo though.

Its a shame the graph tec site isnt working at all for me cos i wanted to check if they did the saddles for gibralter standard bridges and if so how much theyd be.  I noticed after a quick google search that a FR with them is £204 so im thinking about 80-100.

Ill keep checking back.

Thanks for posting this link

Seems pretty good from what I've heard, getting one put in my custom feline.

The PRS is the vid that convinced me to get it since it's a regular guy that's demoing it rather than a hyped up brand one and it still sounds great.

The compression of it seems really cool I'm guessing that's why it doesn't quack so much when it's hit hard plus it's got a decent pre built in to shape the sound effectively. It might seem a little fake on it's own but in context it'd be fine or if blended in with electric sound to give it a little twang/clarity.

Plus it has the midi option which is cool, I considered it but it's a lot more cause you need the added module then a midi interface to work it and it's only really worth it if your synths are any good. Though I'll probably cave in and get that bit too eventually - I think Big Mac has it if I remember if he hasn't read this already I'd try PM'ing him.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Seems like it's a good alternative for acoustic tones.

Johnny, have posted any clip with that guitar ?

i put one in this.  the clips are through a little tube amp - but it still sounds pretty good for a piezo

just piezo

mag/piezo mix

my feeling is that the warmth of the graphtech saddles nicely tames the characteristc piezo zing
