Title: Washburn Nuno guitar
Post by: Andy Lindsay on December 15, 2005, 08:54:37 PM
My local guitar shop is selling a Washburn Nuno guitar with the Paduak body. It's got the stevens extended cutaway body/neck joint. Is this the N4 model does anyone know? It's a customers sale, and it's marked up at £430. It's tatty, but still seems cheap if it's the real thing. Any idea's anyone?

check and see if the floyd says "schaller" on it- if it does, i *THINK* it's one of the good ones

The new N4's have an unfinished alder, not paduak body.
The Custom ones have the 'N4' sticker on too. The N2s have a swamp ash body.

I only know this regarding the newer reissue models though...so I fully stand to be corrected by someone knowing more than me!

At the end of the day, if you like the guitar, get it! I like the N-Series Washburns myself...

actually, I was wrong (and so I correct myself!)

The N4 Vintage has an Alder body
The N4 ESA has a Swamp Ash body
and apparently the straight N4 can come in swamp ash or PADUAK...

Hi Folks
I had a N2 quite a few years ago. A great sounding Guitar but did not stand up to regular gigging. The Bill Lawrence pickup sounds excellant but I managed to short out 2 before I gave up and stuck a Demarzio PAF in it (this was before BKP existed) I passed it on when I discovered the Floyd was trying its best to disconnect itself from the body. The Floyd post was cut so close to the trem cavity it eventually came through (very soft wood). Having said all that I got some excellent guitar sounds out of it in the studio.

There was an N3 for a short while, made in Korea I think, but it did have the extended cutaway - they don't make it easy , do they??!!

If it has the Stephens cutaway it is an N4.
They did a Paduak version for a couple of years.

The N2 is no comparison to the N4 - a chaeaper inferior guitar
It was actually copied from one of Nuno's earlier axes - but it was a bit generic compared to the N4.

The Lawrence pickup can be a bit fragile IMO- the design has NO metal in the baseplate and this affects the tone in a big way- ask Tim
Some like it and others don't
The Duncan Dimebucker is pretty much a verbatim copy of that pickup.
