Title: Rebel Yell -Studio Recording -best pick up ever!
Post by: BenJHayes on September 17, 2010, 03:19:37 PM
I carried out some recording using a new BKP Rebel Yell Humbucker -amazed at how stunningly good these are for some great rock tones!

I like the way they clean up but what I love the most is that growl when you wind them up...awsome!

The pickup is installed in the bridge of a Charvel San Dimas type 1 (Tele body) and all rythm and lead tones were recorded with the same guitar using different amp settings and some basic reverb/delay fx.

The amps used were a Black Star Venue 20/ and a Line 6 PODXT.

Some really nice tones you have there.

I especially like the whammy useage, very tasteful and not over the top like most players seem to do with it,

Wow, that is what I call a wall of sound!

Awesome tones and playing, I wouldn't mind to listen to this kind of stuff all day.

Thanks...this seems like a friendly place to chat about all things guitar!

I'm going to order a neck Rebel Yell for the same guitar after my experience of the bridge pick up.
I'm not a huge fan of the SD one that was originally in the guitar and this was a great upgrade IMO.

loved it ben, great piece and lovely playing.it sounded to me though that the guitar should come out a bit more,
almost like a bands playing and your listening in the next room. i've been using a chainsaw all day so maybe it's
my ears(i don't think so) but i'll listen again tomorrow.
première classe all the same.

Hey -you may be right as I do struggle with mixes sometimes due to slightly damged hearing from early Band days!
I always like feedback on mixing because one set of ears isn't always enough!

i stand by what i said, i noticed it in the guitar when you play in 4ths around 30s, it sounds so mean but wants to be
in ya face more, after that i thought generally guitars need to come forward.it's a personal thing ,not an absolute,
but i notice it often in rock played with humbuckers, that they're too far back.
i loved the piece even more second time around, well written, well played, well done 8)
