Title: What pickup?
Post by: Lew on September 25, 2010, 02:30:55 PM
Any suggestions for a bridge bucker that's going to be pretty transparent, kinda like the lower output Ibby pickups but not so characterless with lots of clarity and definition. I'm thinking lowish output, no high super high gain monsters. Maybe a Crawler, although they seem to be hit and miss depending on the wood. For a 7 string.

What woods are your guitar made of? I have a Crawler in a HSS-customstrat: swampashbody, mapleneck, ebony fingerboard. Crawler is medium/higher-output, but fat, balanced and cleans up well. Has a nice growl when driven. But for a seven string it could be to too dark, depending on the woods, although lot of people like Crawlers in thier Les Paul. Better ask Tim at BKP.

Type of guitar and woods used?

Black Dog works well in low tunings, and has wonderful cleans too.

Ta. The neck and board is maple, body wood hasn't been chosen yet. I had the Crawler in a set neck Hamer and it was perfect but I had another in a Hog/Maple/Ebony Caparison that sucked. It'll be standard tuning. I'll go check the Black Dog  8)

oh edit: type of guitar will be a bolt-on RGesque superstrat - 25.5"
