Which set of bkp's would you guys use for the thypical 60's tele sound? Will a set of yardbirds do it? Guitar is a 60's style tele with a rosewood neck.

The Yardbirds will do fine for a sixties-sound. But I also would consider the BG50's. Think they are on of the best vintage telepickups.

Yep, do consider the BG50s. I like both, but I would choose Yardbirds for typical 60s sounds, they're sweeter and "slimmer" than the BGs. :D
My Yardbirds are in a MIJ Custom... alder body, rosewood fingerboard.
"slimmer" to me means lighter-toned without getting thin. I was half expecting "thin" and possibly rather bright when I ordered Yardbirds. But no, they cut through mixes really well but retain a body and sweetness that's hard to beat. Playing solo tele in front of the tv or pc, I find the BGs more satisfying, but for putting in a mix, I find the Yardbirds much more versatile.
