Everything here is done with a 5150 patch, and my Warpig. Never really used the 5150 model on the pod too much, it takes a while to find a sound I like on it. If this doesn't demonstrate what you're looking for, let me know, and I'll do something else. It's always good to have motivation to record :D
P.S excuse the playing, I did this on my day of after seeing Arch enemy + SYL, so I was pretty wrecked.
-
That's probably the heaviest Warpig clip to this date.
WFD will aprove!
-
Thats bloody HEAVY! I like it :D
-
Arghh!! Help!!  Very good :)
-
Excelent song, very good tone.
I was going to see SYL. Im pissed I didn't. I assume they were good!
-
$%ING HAILS MAN

TIM, you better reward this guy , because he´s doing a strong marketing for BKP by recording these soundclips

so many pickups, so little guitars to put them in =/
-
hawhaw - that certainly WAS HEAVY  thanks for that man. i'd been waiting for a clip like this to come up for the Warpig
-
yeah, i´m pretty much inclined to get the warpig NOW.
but i still have to know the answers for the questions i did on the pickup thread about the nailbom and warpig Tightness on the bass
Q:(
-
Glad you guys like it :)
Steve, SYL were absolutely amazing, I think they actually outdid Arch Enemy even though they only got to play 7 songs. One of, if not the best band i've seen live.
-
I thought they would! Devy is one of the most talented people in the music industry IMO.
-
I'm gonna have to agree with that. He's seriously funny too, definately knows how to work a crowd. And seeing Gene Holgan was great, such a good drummer. I can't wait to see them again.
-
ahh yes, At The Gates was a great band and that song is one of my favourites :) play it atleast once everyday :D
now for some criticism ... :?
it sounds like you're off-beat a couple times
listen to the very end of the song
-
That was pretty heavy- frightened the life out of Mrs 38th
-
yet the original(though more produced)
sounds much tighter.
I wonder what amps ATG were using at the time ?
-
Peavey XXL supreme with a boss heavy metal pedal AND a boss metal zone. You wouldnt think it would sound that good would you?
Yeah, i know i went off a bit, I could redo it much better, but I'm not that bothered as I was only putting it up to give a demo of the tone WFD requested.
-
very heavy, ill have to check that band out

Taken from the Slaughter of the Soul re-issue booklet
I know that Anders has been hassled for seven long years about the "Slaughter Of The Soul" guitar sound... This is how you do it... Are you ready ...; One Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal, One Boss Metal Zone distortion pedal, One Peavey Supreme 160 amp... and here's the tricky part; Anders' home built cabinet with 2x10" speakers and 2x12" speakers... No more emails, phone calls or letters to Anders about this alright... Ha, ha... And yeah, you have to figure out the levels yourself.
:)
-
cool :)
did they used EMG-equipped guitars back then too ? :)
-
EMG-81's have been around since the early eighties.
-
good sound!
That song rules, it got me into the whole melodeath thing (many years ago!)
i still cant play it quite right tho..

yeah, but I wanted to know if they were present
at the Slaugher of the Soul album ? :P

I don't remember ever finding out what guitars where used to record SOTS, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing anders playing a PRS in the video for blinded by fear. If I remember, I'll double check that in the next few days. The PRS may have had EMGs in though, but I don't think it did. The album doesn't really sound like EMGs were used on it to me.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

I have the new re-released cd
peavey supremme xxl head, boss METALZONE. AHAHAHAH and emgs(not specified, but pretty sure they are 81)
and 5150 too.
and a home made 2x12 cabinet that anders built.
Guitars.. Ibanes ABRAXAS,.

They re-released SOTS again?! I have a rerelease I bought a couple of years back and it doesn't mention half the stuff you just posted.
-
YEAH, mine has...
the legion, a cover of An australian thrash metal band called Slaughterlord... THE DYING, a track that doesnt enter the SOTS sessions, a cover of a swedish HARDCORE band, and 2 demo versions of songs from the SOTS album.
and liner notes in each song by Tomas lindberg itself.
i´m gonna grab it and type it here ... wait.

Yup, sounds the same as mine so far, and I've read the case insert many times and have never come across EMGs, 5150's or the guitars being mentioned.
-
boss heavy metal distortion pedal, boss metal zone distortion pedal
peavey supreme 160 amp, and ANDER´S home built 2x12 cabinet speakers.
it didn´t mention the emgs
but i´m pretty sure they use it.
i emailed anders once and he told me that he used emgs.
ahahahahaha
and i emailed a lot fo guys too, defleshed, andy larocque etc
-

Haha, just as I thought. I wouldn't be surprised if he did use EMG's back then to be honest, I mean he uses them now and everything.
-
The tomas lindberg LINER NOTES about anders gear are on the lyrics for the track UNTO OTHERS.
check it out.

-
YEAH.. ALSO...
the guy of arch enemy, ex carcass is using JB/59 if i´m not mistaken..
bu i guess he used someting different back then on HEARTWORK day.
I liked the WARPIG Clips A LOT...
i´m just have to make sure i´ll get the pup that will satisfy me the closest to 100% As POssible.
i only heard(besides Crisola´s Nailbomb clip) thin nailbomb clips.. so, i can´t decide on them.
i guess i´ll go for a open coil set of warpigs.
J.P
and acquire a nailbomb later.. or a painkiller.
-
Yeah, I know about the linear notes. Thats where I got the information I posted on the last page. And yeah, Mike Ammot does use the JB/59 combo, I think he always has. As far as heartwork tone goes, they used a 5150 and a marshall 30th anniversary head to record the album if you're interested.
Just go for the warpigs man, you will not regret it. Loads of tight bass and mid range, perfect highs, chunky as $%, what more could you ask for in a heavy pick up?
-
That's a great clip, blackout! Thanks for posting it. I gotta decide between a Warpig and a Nailbomb for my next guitar. Fortunately, I have a bit of time to make up my mind.
-
No problem, there will probably be more eventually. I hope to get a warpig neck pickup in the first quarter of 06, so I'll porbably get some of them up eventually.
-
hey, nice playing blackout
is that all your own work? pretty amazing if it is
-
i think the track of the Warpig is mixed over the original At The Gates song... (could be wrong!).
If it is, what program did you use to quiet the guitars on the original track down?
-
Yup, you're right. All i did was import the original mp3 into audacity (great free recording program) and record a few guitar tracks over it. Then i just turned the original down enough so you could stlil hear it, but the guitars i recorded overpowered the original ones. The whole mp3 was turned down, not just the guitars.
And to the guy I promised the SOAD cover to, It's comin man, my computers just being a bitch at the moment so i'm having a bit of trouble recording. It'll be up ASAP.
-
$%ING thanks Blackout.
thanks for helping me decide what pickup to buy from BKP.
I´ll Definitely Get the CALIBRATED WARPIG SET.
ahahahahah and maybe a Spare Neck Irish Tour.
J.P
-
