Still gotta EQ my amp to match this guitar.
Just a quick clip to test it out.
I didnt realise the CS bridge was so bright and in a slightly bright guitar its a bit overkill so i may be changing this one out pretty soon.

CS cuts definitely, tight and bright. For this style not bad at all, you don't get lost in the mix. Not my sound though, but I don't play metal. Great demo nevertheless. Thumbs up.

To be honest im not overly fond of this sound it was just the most manageable i could get with it i much prefer the MM its a bit more raunchy.
I'm pretty sure ill get the hand of this pickup though its requiring a great difference in EQ on the amp so with more fiddling i think i could get something that i like more. I need to play with the height a bit more too

The MM-clips I heard, show this pickup is very balanced and has a great leadtone.

I've tried the NB in many different guitars but never really got on with it which is a shame as i absolutely love the tones that other users get from them.
If you check out my newer clip ive gotten to grips with the CS now and i'm quite pleased with the sounds im getting.

Sounds oddly dark. Needs more cut and intensity in the high mids.

Whenever my aftermath arrives i'll be doing a more serious recording where ill spend more than 30-45 mins recoridng & mixing lol
Also i've changed out the valves in the amp too and had a few mods done to get rid of the horrible TSLness so they should all come out far better anyway.

Guitars are still a bit low for my tastes (but plenty of people like guitars at that level), and a little phasey; have you tried isolating the cab/amp from the room (as best you can at least) to cut down on reflections making it back to the cab?
Spend a day or two playing with amp locations, shielding round the cab, reflection and absorbtion control in the room, mic placements, settings, make notes, take photos and do test recordings (make sure the notes, photos and test recordings are all properly linked up or they wont mean anything later!) and it all gets much less painfull the next time.
I never had much luck recording my TSL personally, though. Its a tricky amp; try and make it sound big and fat and it sounds muddy, its top end is woolly under more than moderate gain so its hard to get attack out of and its generally hard to manage. The best mic placement I could find was similar to what I still use: aimed at the edge of the dust cap, on axis. Sold it years ago though, shortly after I got my powerball.

yeah i need to look into isolating it a bit more and definitely need to work on placement a lot.
I do actually have a iso cab on my shopping list for after christmas which should also keep the neighbours a bit happier (live in a flat)
I have been looking a lot at the powerball II lately and also the JVM but im really torn as i know i need an amp upgrade but really cant decide between them as i love them both even though they are completely different beasts.

Havent tried the PB2. Cant really comment. If I could only have my PB or my JVM though, I'd choose the PB without hesitation, for recording. It mics up much more easily and the tonal variation from the shear 'width' of its controls is massive. It has plenty of attack, and its particular character comes across really well at the speaker, close miced (a lot of amps can sound great in the room and get really tiny when you close mic them, and the JVM is one of them; powerballs mic up really well though, if you know how to tweak them).
Isocabs are great for tracking quiet, but they have their own sound as well. Not sure I approve of it or not. What I do is track at really low volume with a DI at all times, get the playing right and reamp later.
Another possibility is something like the palmer 03; DI that comes off the power amp, gives a load and a speaker sim. I've heard good results, but I like mics. Mics have their own sound and response and I'm loathe to lose that part of the chain, personally.

yeah since micing amps i dont really want to go back to DI recording it just sounds kinda soulless
I really should look into reamping though it would save alot of time and hassle

if you check on there i have just added a new track using my new aftermath pickup
and there are also some other clips mostly original and a couple of covers.
Killer from the deep is in the same styling as this (well its the same band)
but that has vocals and a solo

I'll warn you the tone is pretty bad on some of them
as those clips are just a in progress report of me learning how to Mic an amp as i used to record everything using a pod before that

you tried to counter-EQing the brightness of your guitar, and got a muffled tone that doesn't sound aggressive as it should... i found the perfect combination at my first attempt, putting my CS set in a gibson SG... i think they give their best in dark and middy guitars.

yeah it wasn't really the best match for this guitar at all.
I imagine it would work well in anything mahogany based.
