Well I sold my JVM and I've just bought a 212 Laney VC30. So I'm looking for an overdrive pedal just to give the amp a bit more of a boost for leads and to get a more aggressive rhythm tone if I need it.
I've looked at the Blackstar HT Dual but what else should I look into?
My budget is £100. £110 max

The HT-Dual is more of a pre-amp than an overdrive. I'd say you want something more transparent and subtle.
There are LOADS of options, and we'll all have a different opinion on which is best. I'd just take a punt on something and try it.

I think we have done really well so far not to mention Tonerider :D
I won't say for £100 you could buy both Tonerider dirt pedals. Some things are to obvious to mention.
So I won't.

Dano Coolcat Transparent Overdrive. Works just fine as a dirt boost, has lot of gain, and adds just that extra hair and cut without colouring your guitar's and amp tones too much (nothing like a TS or like).
NB : didn't tried the V2, but from what I've read it's as good if not better as the V1.

I got one to go with an AC4TV and didn't really like it. I could see what it was meant to do, but it didn't grab me with that amp.
I put it in front of my Laney Cub12 the other day - WOW!! Yep, does exactly what I used to use a Guvnor in front of an old Laney for (except it does it loads better than the Guvnor): "bit more of a boost for leads and to get a more aggressive rhythm tone if I need it"
Don't know whether mine's V1 or V2, or even what that means (:lol:), but it does the job for not many pennies.

So I bought it. Tried it with a Marshall DSL401 combo and a Custom Shop Tele. Sounded great and I really like the boost option.

Thats about the best OD/distortion thing I've used (thats currently commercially available at least - I have a couple of prototype legra pedals, as does dave, that are very good).
Enough gain on its own for pretty much anything, works great as an OD on top of the amp as well.

I just bought one of these 2nd hand.
They do colour the amps native sound a bit, but they are brilliant. Apart from the sound, they have this "ISF" control which changes the character of the valve from British to American. This really allows you to dial in a workable tome very quickly and gives you a lot of versatility.
The other bonus is if you are running a single channel set up or have no footswitch you can set up a 3 channel system by putting your amp on clean, channel 1 on a kind of half gain bluesy rock sound and the 2nd channel on full distortion. Or you can use ch1 as a rhythm channel and channel 2 as a solo boost.
The are most impressive when used with a cheap transistor amp, or when used at reasonable volume with a valve amp. I would probably go to your local dealer and try one out with your amp if it all possible, but I am using mine in a variety of combinations and it is now my default piece of kit, even over my JMP1!
