Had the opportunity to bring the Studio 2 to Ultrasound yesterday for a jam. Into a Bogner 4x12 the amp is just this side of not being loud enough. I'm thinking about options at this point ranging from adding a second Studio 2 to the rig to experimenting with a 4x10 with high efficiency drivers.
This is a quick recording from the jam. Sorry for the wooly sound; I had the Tascam DR1 sitting on the floor, which made the low freqs of the guitar clip quite a bit.

Setup was:
Agile AL2800 w/Riff Raff (b) and Stormy Monday (n) in parallel > Maxon OD 820 > Studio 2 > Bogner 4x12

another amp would be the dead cert way of ensuring you'll be loud enough, but some more efficient speakers may well work too.
make sure you have the cab up off the floor and tilted up towards your ears - you'll be surprised at how much difference this makes.
alternatively, do they not make a louder amp to start off with???
-
It's a shame it's not quite loud enough as that amp really seems to fit the tone you're going for with PI.
Daft question, but if it's not loud enough with a 4x12, wouldn't a 4x10 have the same problems? I have zero experience with 4x10 cabs, so this is prob a daft question!

Yeah, this has crossed my mind already. The real problem is the drummer not being able to hear. I'm thinking that cab with a parallel out will also allow me to get a cab right next to the drummer.

He does, but I prefer the voicing on the Studio 2.

Couldnt you just have a monitor for luigi?
Also wouldn't micing the amp intoa PA be more than good enough for gigs and what not?
-

I do not know about this 'monitor' and 'PA' you speak of. Such things do not exist in the NYC bar gigging world!

HA!
Still sorting it out, myself!!

if it has a line out, you could run it into one of those EH Caliber 22 power amp pedals then into a 1x12 to boost up the volume. or alternatively, mic it up through the PA and pump the monitors up.
