Title: Removing pickup covers?

Is it possible to remove a chrome cover of a covered pickup?

I'd like to take the cover off of an old Kent Armstrong p-up and put it on the neck pickup in my SG because it will look good next to my Nailbomb!

Post by: Steve-Mr Pig 2U on December 18, 2005, 02:12:37 PM: The covers can be removed. You'll need a powerful soldering iron to de-solder the joints between the cover and the baseplate. But If you want to put it on another pickup it will have to be soldered in the same way and wax potted to prevent microphony.

Post by: Steve-Mr Pig 2U on December 18, 2005, 04:29:57 PM: the whole pickup, when the cover is soldered on. When you first put it in, the wax will solidify around the pickup becasue it is cooler than the wax, wait untill the wax has melted again, then it is ready to take out.

Burnt covers as an extra bonus. + molten coils. :?
