I play with my amp set for a breaking up clean tone, think Little Wing kind of tone, maybe a little dirtier.
I then use a number of stomp boxes for OD, delay, compression etc... However, I'm thinking that something like the TC Nova System would offer much more flexibility for me. Anyone used one?
I'm gonna head down to Guitar Guitar this week and try one out for myself, just wondering what people's experiences with these things are.
Also, if anyone has one for sale, I may be interested.

I see them often used on ebay. Not a good sign. However the time-effects like delay/chorus/flange/pitchshift are great. Few guitarists rave about the overdrive/distortion in the Nova-system. And: tweaking on stage takes more effort with all those parameters. If you can, try one in a shop.

major flaw that you cannot do 4CM, that limits its usages.
That said, I think it's a nice unit. But you said more flexibility ... I think you're more flexible if you can pair your dirt pedals of choice and reverbs delays you like rather than having to get along with TC in all of them. Not that it's bad, but just thinking about the many different flavours of boosts alone, and how certain pedals match with certain amps - that you won't get from the Nova.

4CM ??? :?
and yes, I will most certainly be trying before buying (and a used one too, can only justify around £250 on one as the cheapest I've seen them new is £329).

4 cable method
where you go guitar=>Nova front end fx => Amp In => Send/Return to Nova Loop for post gain FX

ahh, cheers. thats not an issue for me, I don't have an effects loop and run the amp fairly clean with the intention of running all effects into the front end.
is there anything comparable to the Nova that does use the 4CM ???

Plenty, my Tonelab SE did it. Boss GT-10 does it. Line6 M13, etc...
The TC has the advantage of analog drives, that is quite cool. But still I'd take an OCD, a phaser and a good delay instead.

at the minute, all I really use is my amp set crunchy (breaking up plexi kinda tone), then an OD-1 set for a little bit more dirt, then the OD off my Boss BE-5 for heavy OD.
the compressor off the BE-5 is used to drive the amp a bit harder for solos and I use the delay on a couple of songs.
I'd like to create a few patches so I can change the OD levels round a bit more to suit the song - I hate gaps between songs, so something like this means less f@nnying on twaking pedal settings. The Ramones has it right - just leave space to count 1,2,3,4 between songs
will check out those other multi-effects too.
