...gear collection that is
Doesn't get much more insane than this I guess:

The following pictures, and that, will make us all laugh, be amazed but ultimately cry... and get GAS maybe.
-
I would say Billy Gibbons will have one of, if not THE largest collection of guitars and amps. Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick too I would think.
Both of those guys will put Bonamassa to shame.

Any pics of their whole arsenal?
-
Never seen one. Billy has buildings full of stuff by all accounts - loads of vintage Fender amps and guitars...
-
Doesn't Keith Richards allegedly have something like 3000+ guitars?
-
This was the first picture of mad rockstar GAS I ever saw:
Not quite as many as Bonamassa there, but on the other hand it's a '90s pic and I'm sure he's added a couple more since then. Then of course there are pages and pages of gear galleries on the Vai website as well.
-
i hope joe didn't stress himself out too much by buying that stuff on ebay.
-
I think we've seen that Joe B picture before, he must have quite a few more by now - including more of his own LP signature models in the new sunburst colour.
I hadn't heard of Keith Richards having 3000+ guitars, that sounds a bit extreme (unless that was just a "big" number plucked out of thin air? ), but he certainly has a lot, as do Billy Gibbons and Rick Nielsen already mentioned. Then there's Joe Perry, and Steve Howe, and John Entwistle (RIP).... I think some of those guys may have had clearouts over the years though.
Oh, and Phil King! :P
-
Philly - please can we have a picture of you stood with your Warmoth parts collection... :? Now that would be mighty impressive!

Shame he had to sell the shirt off his own back to save up for some of them eh!

I think it would be a bit depressing, to be honest Dave..... a monument to procrastination. :(

Shame he didn't sell that stupid $%ing hat.

The thing that gets me with both pictures is how many cherry sunburst and honeyburst LPs do you need? While I understand GAS as much as the next man, high multiples of the same guitar don't make sense to me.
Interesting to note the JP6 in JB's collection. Apparently he now has Lukes, Steve Morses and that custom doubleneck now as well.
-
Does he really need 3 Vintage V100MRJBM's?
Show off!

That's, like, nearly 700 quid's worth! More money than sense!
-
if it was just a single guitar I'd win with my 28.6 inches of pure girth
-
those two 'rock stars' have just one V each in their so called 'collection'... pfft

You're gradually sneakin' up on them though, aren't you?

but i can never get there ;) '58s, '67s and medallions are astronomically priced these days. having said that a 'player grade' medallion might be within my reach one day. the couple of '67s that have been on ebay recently were far out of my price range, but were more reasonable than i thought - maybe because of the recession. i quite fancy a hamer vector KK next, but that will be in a while(!), a Flying V XPL might also be affordable. don't fancy a V2. what might be quite nice is a couple of cheapees to experiment with. i'm into the idea of stratting one up

"The damn truck hasn't shown up. Get Gibson on the phone"

I saw a Vector KK on eBay quite recently, can't remember if anyone actually bought it.
Speaking of Stratted-Up Vs, have you seen James Byrd's Super Avanti?

i saw that KK too - i think it went for a bit too much. theres another one on there now, but it has a MIDI pickup. anyway, i need to stay away from buying guitars for a bit.
I have seen the Super Avanti (but thanks for the reminder :) ) - i'm not sure quite what to think about it! it looks wild, but i don't know if thats in a good or bad way
-
I cant help but think that being his guitar tech would be like painting the severn bridge

Well said! :D
I love guitars but I'd rather paint the bridge as it's outdoors and I bet it's much better paid :?
-
I only came in cos I'd seen Afghan Dave had posted in a thread called "Who's got the biggest?"
I thought "that'll cheer up my post-lunch-break-blues"...
I was sadly misled :(
Come on Dave, a bit more effort please
-
:?
-
That'll do - nice one
