I've been experimenting with humbucker screws and the different alloys do make a difference.
Anybody knows the precise alloy that BKP uses for their screws? 1010? 1018? 1022? something else?
:D

Nope.
It is a factor though; very true.
I imagine one of the BK guys will be happy to tell you. They do pay attention to the metal in the poles, being aware that it makes a difference in tone (better magnetic permeability = more high frequencies preserved, I believe).

Cheers for the reply!
Tim and the rest of the guys at BKP pay a lot of attention to metal alloys and I know they go to great lengths to make the steel parts as conductive as possible to help the output and tone but I do not know the grade... maybe the exact type is not to be revealed... winding pickups is a work of art where everything affects everything.
If it's not a secret I'd like to know but then again I think only Tim a few others might actually know.

Well you can always contact Tim and ask him :) he's not going to refuse to answer, I think. He's one of the most helpful guys and company owners I've ever seen!!!
Good luck with your search man...and don't forget to tell us the results!!!

Tim's response:
we use 1018 but all our pole shoes and screws are specially heat treated.
great! Cheers Tim!

These guys pay tons of attention to detail!!! That's why we choose them...well done guys!!!

i hope that they use: BRITISH STEEL

I found that I like low carbon alloys the best... they have a nice snap but also a sweeter top high end. To most ears they "sound" bright but in a good way.
