One that I thought might be of interest to casual browsers / new customers , as well as creating a bit of 'coffee break contemplation' from the existing B.K.P users:
If you had to own / Gig / promote just ONE of the B.K.P range for your main style - which one would be your personal 'Excalibur' - and in which style / type of guitar ?
( For the new readers I must of course emphasise that a variety of the B.K.P range do very nicely in any given setting, but I wanted the B.K.P groupies / old guard to declare a pack leader for their very own sonic signature. )
I will set the ball rolling with the 'Manhattan' - for Jazz, in any fully hollow archtop. :)
Fire away chaps !
-
Irish Tours in an alder/maple strat.I can't find a way of making this set NOT sound superb.
-
BKP90 in the neck of my JJ. I hope to put a Manhattan in my Eastman someday.
-
Black Guard flat 50s for me. They more than competently cover all of the tonal bases I need.
-
Warpig & Trilogy for me!
-
Miracle Man in Fender Jag-Stang.
-
Without any hesitation: Crawlers in a Vox Custom 24 or any similar guitar (Gibson Marauder or like or any very bright LP may be a good fit), into any decent cranked valve amp. Best ROCK tone I've ever had, and I'm not the only one that says so...
-
Cold Sweat set in an all mahogany Les Paul or Flying V.
-
This turned out to be surprisingly difficult for me to answer... but then I realised it's because I don't have a "main style" anymore
If someone was to ask which one would I take to a gig/session where I might have to do all sorts of stuff, I'd probably go for Blackguard Flat 50s in an ash-bodied, maple-necked tele, with a four-way switch to give me the both-in-series sound as well. I could pretty much do anything I'm capable of then.
But if you want me to be "Andrew Russe"... I'd show up with Irish Tours in a 60s Roadworn Strat - so I guess that's my Signature set
-
cold sweats in my main les paul custom
but I would try my custom riff raff in a les paul before making the choice
-
A5 mule bridge
i haven't decided on the neck yet :)
-
Crawler in my superstrat. BG50's in a tele.
-
Holy Divers in a PRS Modern Eagle or Paul Richardson SCR would work for my classic rock and blues style :D
-
VHII set in my Eggle Berlin 22 HT
-
neckwise i think my signature is a lollar mini-humbucker (!!) :o
this needed careful thought. if i have to choose a bkp, then probably irish tour
-
I have only the Holydiver but I think the Miracle Man would suit me best for classic Heavy Metal up to Thrash/Death Metal and some hard rock. Cold Sweat in the neck. Superstrat made of korina and the Fryette Deliverance for an amp. Tight gear...
-
Apaches for me.
-
Blackguard Flat 50 for all Teles.
-
I'm not at all sure anyone would want to buy my "signature" BKP....
Good question, nevertheless!
I don't think I've necessarily found the perfect set yet, but my favourite so far is the Cold Sweat set in (as Feline mentioned) an all-mahogany guitar. Which surprised me a bit, as they're (relatively) high-output and modern sounding. I would've expected something more vintage to float my boat.

+1 - I have a set in my PRS Standard. Probably part due to the playability of the guitar, but can get a great range of usuable sounds from it. Also like the first BKP I bought on ebay which was an uncovered Crawler which is in an Ibanez EDR470 - this sounds better than the Crawler set I had in my Les Paul (which now has Mules). Also love my Blackguard Flat 50 set.
-
The Abraxas in my Les Paul was an awesome tone, I'd be happy with that for pretty much anything in the blues/rock style right up to doom/stoner/sludge styles.
I'm loving my Tele alot at the minute, but sadly no BKPs in that one, yet.
-
Tricky.
Currently with Fallen Poets my signature sound is very much overdriven Blackguard Flat 50s into my Egnater Renegade.
However, as soon as I join/form my Black Sabbath tribute band it'll be SG & Mules through my Orange!!!
-
without hesitation (out of all 2 bridge bks i have tried) the black dog bridge in a 7 string. for thick heavy metal :D
-
Nice question. I think it would have to VHII bridge mothers milk mid and neck in my freline dinky. Though yardbirds in a maple neck alder body tele is a pretty close 2nd.
-
Would anyone be surprised if I said "Holy Diver"? :)
-
Would anyone be surprised if I said "Holy Diver"? :)
Not really as you have both the old spec and current spec in your collection
-
Pig 90 probably, although my favourite guitar doesnt have BKPs and I have no plans to put them in either :o
-
my freline dinky.
Oops - change of identity?
-
I think it'd have to be the Rebel Yell bridge (with VHII neck if we're choosing a full set here). I love lots of the range to bits, but the RY has everything I want in the most balanced proportions - clear, rich, smooth, tight, punchy and dynamic.
-
I would love to have the RY's in my next guitar. Most of the clips are amazing.
-
C-Pig. Someone had to say it. Ceramic bridge Alnico nech in my Horzion NTII.
-
Painkiller with a set of Trilogy Suites in a Strat, even better in a Mahogany with flame maple top type guitar. I love the PK for Christian youth worship music, it fits perfectly. Also works great for just straight up Rock n' Roll. Well, come to think of it, it does everything fairly well, if you EQ your amp right. Bright mofo though, which is why it's perfect for Christian youth worship.
-
Aftermath, in all sorts of ways. ;) :)
-
my freline dinky.
Oops - change of identity?
Opps indeed
I suspect Johnathan has just spotted a typo. It should read Feline Dinky!
-
warpig! ceramic or alnico i can't decide...
-

This is almost an impossible decision. Many of my stage guitars are loaded with various BKPs, however if I had to only pick one I would probably say the Rebel Yell, with the ceramic Warpig close behind.
-
Holydiver in a hacked up standard tele. Still my go to guitar for any situation.
-
Mothers milk for my loverly strats...mmmm, but otherwise Emeralds!
-
Cold Sweats in my 80's LPC.
-
Probably the Ceramic Holy Diver. That is one godly pickup.
-
A set of engraved camo A5 nailbombs in a les paul. Sorted ! :P
-
REBEL YELL/ LP STANDARD-does it all!!!!
-
The Black Dog! Thick, but you still have all the character of the wood.
