Title: NGD
Post by: Brow on November 04, 2010, 01:07:06 PM
Hey guys.

I managed to pick up 1 of the Red 2 pickup BC Rich Gunslinger Reissues last night for the sum of £230 with hardcase :D

I've been after 1 of the yellow 1s for a while, but there was no way I was going to miss this for the price just because of the colour!

It's 1 of the older 1s with the Dimarzios instead of the Rockfield Mafia pickups they're now fitting in them.

I can't post or link pics from work, so that'll have to wait till later.

Going to crank the Splawn QR up when I get home and play some cheesy 80s Rock :D

Thanks!

I'm not apologising!   :D

I really would've liked to have gone for 1 of yours, but after the Splawn and car payments and the buggering insurance, It's just not doable for the forseeable future :(

Nope - you're thinking of the 70s with the flaires and tank tops and platform shoes etc

Very nice Brow.

A steal at that price, I would love a red one to go with my yellow but there are a few others higher up the list.

Yeah, I've not been a member there too long to be honest.

I joined up to have a poke around about a certain maker of guitar amp covers and ended up staying :)

It looks surprisingly clean, been in its case most of the time?

I like '80s metal, but on the whole I would have to say the '80s were infinitely more cheesy than the '70s (flares etc notwithstanding).  :P

Nice score, Brow!

The guy I got it off (an old bandmate I haven't seen in a long time) has only had it about 6 months, if that, and has never gigged it.

I can't speak of it's history before that, but apart from the odd pick scr@pe here and there, it is pretty much mint.

nice score, I'd like something similar myself - around £250 max so I can sell my mockingbird and free up some cash.

Cheers guys!

I cranked it up through the Splawn last night for half an hour or so.

Not the most versatile guitar in the world, I never expected it to be, but it was awesome for the 70s/80s Rock thing I do :D

I'll probably change the pickups at some point to a Trilogy in the neck and a Miracle Man in the bridge, but there's no rush as the Super D in the bridge is good and the dual rail in the neck is passable for the time being

I do like me a good honest super-strat and that looks a beaut, especially for the money.

Now that guitar is clearly not trying to be anything else, is it? 80s Tastic!

Nice find :)

It's the same as the one I traded off Steve against my Randall Lynch cab (subsequently sold on though - I have too many guitars)

^ That's awesome. as i said in brow's thread over at musicradar- if they'd done the yellow one with a neck pickup too (and kept the angled bridge pickup)... I'd have been all over that. That's probably why I never got round to getting one before they were discontinued- I could never decide if I wanted the yellow or the red (and I couldn't justify both... heck I could barely justify one  ). Didn't help that for the first year or so after they came out they were rarer than hens' teeth, and then they were discontinued soon afterwards. :(

Yeah, I've not been a member there too long to be honest.

Yeah I signed up a while back, figured I might as well. It's not my favourite forum, but it's good enough to stay

Looks very nice :) Nice tablecloth too ;)

I'll not put it in print, but I have a private conclusion of some shape or form (who can say what?) that I reached a couple of months back... I've not told the missus in so many words, but I think she knows I've reached that conclusion.

There's a possibility I can get my original Westone IA back from a nephew (he's looking to exchange it for some cr@ppy acoustic from a mate, but his mother made him ask me first) - my first reaction was "yeah I want..." but then... apart from the sentimental side, er, why?!

Stevepage has a very good suggestion, but I strongly suspect that "Mrs Feline" is slightly more clued-up on what might constitute actual research and general "ummm, geetar... yesss..."

Do we really need to be coy?  Loads of us have too many guitars!  Keith Richards has too many guitars!

But do we need to do anything about it?

the tuning got fixed (was just the trem springs, doh!).  I love the look of it and like playing it, but it doesn't feel like 'home' like when I play my Les Paul and 72 Tele Custom.

I spotted the G&L Jerry Cantrell Rampage this morning and that ticks all the boxes for me.  The plan was to free up some cash, but the G&L has got me thinking (GAS alert!!!)
